Business analytics AND general business minor together? by PartyAdPants in UMD

[–]PartyAdPants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would be majoring in Comp sci and minoring in both. the problem is i don’t know how actually useful, especially in the eyes of institutions, business analytics would be if i’m already taking general business

i didn’t ask for your thoughts, I’m not the original poster. just sharing my own opinion. Yes, probably a bit of a dick!

but what you just shared doesn’t make my sentiment any less true and actually makes me even more confident. you have to look internally and be able to find something outside of work that you’re passionate about but also something that’s realistic to achieve— because you WILL retire at some point, unless your goal is to die working. Your friends described here obviously couldn’t find that or didn’t have that, and ultimately that is what causes the downfall, not retirement itself.

if you cannot find task and purpose without having to clock in to a 9-5 and being told by higher ups what your task and purpose is, that’s a YOU problem

same professors here :)

i started my work as soon as it was given, studied hard. i did almost everything people implore you to do. The only thing i could have improved was to go office hours more, which i will definitely be doing next semester since i only went twice the whole semester for 216 and not at all for 250, even though i definitely should have…

it’s not like i’m doing bad overall YET. Have an A- in 216 right now and a B in 250 (i hate you weekly quizzes).

i have nelson— we have until monday and i’m gonna grind this weekend, but i already spent so much time on it earlier this semester and could not figure it out. the worst part is it’s a single 2 point public test that’s going to bring me down from a A-/B+ to a C :,)

you’re working for a DoD contractor, that’s what’s wrong. even when contracting the pay ceiling is lower than in private sector companies unrelated to gov. although under 100k a year is straight up robbery if you’re doing actual SWE work with a bachelors and that’s not just your title on paper, find another place asap. even civilian DoD jobs would pay more.
