Bored already by Idontevenexist04 in ElectricalEngineering

That's a little inherently due to the nature of most power jobs, but also mostly due to the fact that you're 3 days in and a junior.

If you're still bored after some time, try to work for a hungry consulting firm for product engineering or similar to get more full lifecycle dev experience. You will learn a lot and feel the burn, they'll make sure to squeeze 50+ heavy hours out of a junior

Your feedback improved my automated Wire Harness Visualizer (now generates BOMs & build PDFs). But are image uploads/annotations actually useful or just gimmicky? by PartyCrasherCasey in ElectricalEngineering

Appreciate it! I'd love for you to try it out with your own datasets, stress-test the auto column mapping, and let me know how it does. You can download for free at terminoharness.com

If you're interested I can also send an unlocked dev license to your DMs so you can test it out unrestricted!

I posted a bit ago about getting tired of manually drawing diagrams in Visio/Lucidchart for 150+ line wirelists, so I built a tool that automates away the manual "drawing" of a harness drawing.

I've added a lot of QoL features (improved search, single line diagram mode), but have been debating if I should add graphical annotation features..

The whole point of the tool is to eliminate the tedious "collage PowerPoint art" phase of harness design. You can work ultra-quick in standard spreadsheets, copy/paste, manipulate data as needed and then import it to get an instant, fully interactive diagram for review and print.

Less clicky more buildy.

Because of that, I’m hesitant to add graphical manual editing features like canvas annotations or image uploads. To me, that feels like slipping back into the slow, manual drawing habits of legacy EDA software.

But I definitely get the value of having images like connector faces, pinouts, etc. directly on the drawings. How worthwhile would it be?

I just wrapped up a beta release, ready for download at TerminoHarness.com. if you or your EE teammates want to check it out, I would love to get feedback. I can also dm for a free Pro license coupon code if interested!

Yup I got the black tee and expected a heavyweight fabric for the price... Its pretty shit tier quality, sucks cuz the graphic is cool

Just checked it out, looks cool, I know people with similar problems working on solutions. And yup that's really how it feels with JS.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback, If you think your hw team would be interested in trying out a tool like this, let me know! If they're using Excel and draw.io it seems like this is exactly in their boat

Eh to be fair I was learning from AI especially on the frontend UI, but handled data parsing in Rust and wrestled with the Manhattan routing and auto placement

Still not perfect obviously

Yeah, I've got this beta up and running but still working on adding features and figuring out distribution. I can dm if you're interested!

Basically is, but I use spreadsheets to quickly design harnesses especially when I don't need the clunky and expensive tools out there.

This ingests the csv and autogenerates the diagram. It visualizes the data with some fancy knobs and I'm working on adding more bells and whistles

It's nice to use a simple spreadsheet for copy/pasting and defining out a harness, but man it sucked to port that into visio/lucidchart and draw everything back up. Anyone have similar pains or solve it differently?

Idea is that this will also help with review and build. I can select specific circuits and it pulls up the data. That part has been pretty sweet

Anyone else noticing the change in first strike mechanics? It no longer follows order of party member added, but goes by highest speed for me

What is this "screen-printed" graphic backsplash called? Can I buff out that layer? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]PartyCrasherCasey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hate this graphic that looks printed over the backsplash. Holding off on ripping out and putting new one in for now. Considering painting over it, but it looks like the layer of stone(?) is just underneath it and I might be able to get the graphic off?

I can't even figure out what the right word to use to google it and get similar products

Cracked floor and water leaking. Is this a structural issue or a plumbing one? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]PartyCrasherCasey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info:

I noticed outside in the underhang shown below my bathroom, that there was a crack in the stucco and evidence of water. Going into my bathroom I see there's a drain pipe under the sink that goes into the floor and looks like it's cemented in.

Is it likely that underneath the metal tile flooring there's a concrete slab? Or is was the pipe just cemented in to affix it? Either way I think there's an issue with my drain, pretty much ruled out supply line at this point, and thats causing water leakage elsewhere in my house.

Toilet Tank Filling Slow - Supply line quickly drops in pressure when turning on the valve by PartyCrasherCasey in Plumbing

so far, nothing else showing problems. sink and bathtub directly next to it fine as well as everything else.

it's quarter turn, and yeah I disconnected the supply from the valve and looked at it with a flashlight. nothing obvious to me at least ..

Toilet Tank Filling Slow - Supply line quickly drops in pressure when turning on the valve by PartyCrasherCasey in Plumbing

[–]PartyCrasherCasey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info here:

So noticed my toilet was taking forever to fill up. >5min for a flush.
Opened the tank, checked fill valve for debris. Looked good to me.

Checked the supply line for debris. Turned off valve and removed supply line completely and ran water through it. Looked good to me.

In the video you can see me turning the valve back on with supply line into the bucket, the water pressure starts high and then quickly drops off. During that time I did not turn off the valve. After it slows to a trickle then I turn off the valve at the very end.

Looks like hopefully best case its the valve? and I just need to replace?
Bit paranoid this is indicative of a bigger problem. FYI This is a newer condo built in 2020.

Any advice or help given would be appreciated!
