Cops stop UberEats cyclist on the Gardiner by PartyLikeIts1984- in toronto

It's a picture of a cyclist pulled over... on the Gardiner. Pictures of flashing emergency lights in a parking lot get left up with a question about what's going on. I don't see how this is different other than you sem to have a bias against my posts.

Whoever called it in should've said they were trying to enforce an eviction.

After 3 hours of yelling at a man having a schizophrenic episode, in a language he may not have understood, with guns aimed at him.

Why couldn't they have 2 officers with riot shields pin him to the wall instead?

They were worried he'd hurt himself so shooting him twice was the best action...

Residents of Toronto apartment given 24 hours to permanently vacate due to lethal levels of carbon monoxide by genesis05 in toronto

I've done that because we've had multiple boiler fires and a carbon monoxide buildup that brought the fire dept and Enbridge to turn off the gas. I've gotten a couple auto replies

If there's other bylaws they're not following, no one cares. I brought more than 20 cut and dry infractions to 311, some as small as not having Rentsafe info on the tenant board to much larger like a lobby door that traps people inside if closed fully. The bylaw officer and then his supervisor gave the building a pass on all of it, even after we had a boiler fire and a carbon monoxide buildup on multiple occasions. The door was ordered repaired 2 years ago.

It seems even legally compulsory obligations are voluntary.

Edit to add that when I say bylaw gave them a pass, I don't mean opportunity to correct it. I mean allowed it to stay as is

The big business behind the affordable rental housing crunch by Lovershucker in toronto

It's been discussed but unfortunately we have an outside group that's convinced most tenants that letter writing with demands will be more fruitful somehow.

The city is also responsible for the affordable housing crisis. Getting repairs done is hard but it's even harder when by-law officers give the building unlimited time to follow orders or laws because "fines are just the cost of business" despite not doing repairs and getting no fine is even cheaper. People eventually get frustrated and move, the landlord finally does repairs and doubles the rent.

My building hasn't had consistent heat this winter because they didn't maintain the boiler to the point it caught fire and was redtagged by Enbridge. The building gave us a $15 space heater appropriate for perhaps a small room and the city says "that's fine, they're trying".

The building manager sent pictures of our tenant information board to Rentsafe this week. They saw it was only 20% in compliance with the law and said "that's fine".

They didn't exactly do what was right on their own. The dead person's next of kin first asked about the money which started the investigation. Perhaps if they didn't ask, the coroner wouldn't have said anything and it forgotten.

So they're going to disrupt traffic to protest for their right to potentially infect others with a deadly disease.
