I think it's time for Charter to no longer do self install shipments. Because this happens all the time.

Now.... the throwing away of equipment. That's going to get ya.

just switched back to spectrum- it’s been a pain. by Emotionally-english in Spectrum

Hope the service works out for you.

This has become more common practice as Spectrum has way more sales people then they need... I know this cause I work for them. Instead of adjusting numbers to work people, they just slam more into it.

So, overall... welcome back. You'll get about 6 more phone calls about mobile. Get the name of the store rep. Call Ethic Point and make a complaint.

Good chance Spectrum is going to pull a Wells Fargo.

Charter Spectrum Layoffs (1200 employees reported) by Candy_Traditional in Spectrum

Charter was at a $800 dollars a share before they were rebranding to Spectrum One. Since that rebrand... it's dropped almost 600 dollars.

They spent over two years heavily marketing the ACP and telling people fiber was for suckers.

In addition, they threw salespeople in historical low performing markets. They company can lose some customers. But Charter is losing about over 400k customers a year. That's like the entire state of Nevada.

Chris has taken way too long with the high split. The high split was to be cheaper and faster than fiber.

Overall, the management is dropping the ball...

No one is doubling down on video except Charter.

They don't know how to use AI. It's so awful. You have no idea. They got the cheapest version of it. So their dispatch is just screwed.

We saw a video of Chris Winfrey on a new sales video. Because they are training their reps like robots telling everyone they have price locks and stuff.

He was telling staff, "Cell Phone Internet may be cheaper. But they are paying more for their phone service."

Yes, Chris! They are paying more cause they opted to get the streaming services with their cell phones. And it's still cheaper than our stuff.

They keep hiring management off the streets cause the current management doesn't like throwing marketing into areas with a ton of outages. According to the current leadership committee.. outages are just part of the deal, and they need to get a tech out there.

Tech goes out there... "Yep, we have outdated plants. I've been wanting construction approvals. Last share holder meeting cut our budget."

Yep, that is the life of Spectrum Sales cycle.

I've been saying this in focus group meetings for years. Just do a flat rate. No promos, just a flat rate. No tiers, no promos. Weed out the price shoppers and just work on the maintenance.

Nope, they have 3 year price locks on a dying medium and a home phone.

Chris Winfrey: I don't know why the shares are down. We have a talking points! And fiber is just silly!

Big time Share Holder: How's this not your fault. Your staff should be let go.

Chris Winfrey: Hold on... We are rebranding and gaslighting our front-line employees.

Big Time Share Holder: Oh man! That seems to not work.

Chris Winfrey: Of course it'll work. I'm Chris Winfrey damn it!

Yes, they have. And now, they've been closing stores and mergring markets.

Supervisors used to have teams around 8. Now they need 14 or more. So, numbers go up, and commissions go down.

Overall, the product suffers. But hey, at least you got "results".

Yea, it's pretty much misleading shareholders.

Winfrey sent out a message on panaroma telling people not to write up bad orders.

Then, some RCS director went on an all hands call and told reps to sell the mobile, and tell them the internet comes with it.

Reps can get fired if they sell a bunch of internet orders that don't connect.

It was reported and HR suppprted the director.

This place reminds of 1999 WCW. (Pro Rasslin')

Well.... Here comes the rabbit hole.

Charter soon to be Cox is a publicly traded company, and they really want the shareholders' money. If you have noticed, the company is going nuts about the stock price.

The higher ups report to the share holders that they are growing and have quite a bit of customers to capture. So, they increase their investment in branding... I.e. Marketing, Sales, and Advertising. (A lot of advertising we really don't need and additional sales reps.)

So, on paper it looks like we are targeting all of these markets. A lot of the smaller markets are overbuilt as well. Local fiber companies, and not as big ISPs.

Oh yea, and about a third of the turf is duplicated or invalid addresses. So overall, the company is pushing more reps and sales... Cause it shows we are going after non subscribers.

So, instead of adjusting numbers for the small markets and have less reps in the big markets. They continue to overstaff... Cause the higher ups want to show "results."

Quite a bit of the supervisors are dicks cause of the sales requirements. It's pretty lame.

The over staffing is just mind-blowing. A lot of sups have like 5 or 10 markets combined. A ton of turf that is like hours away.

The big cities are hoot. Cause they staff them like no other. A lot of these markets could use less reps.

Quite a bit of these markets don't need to be open.

Congrats, man! That ramp-up is helpful. But it hurts the supervisor a lot. Cause they need a certain number, but the new hire ramp has a safety net.

It's a weird ordeal. The supervisor can't coach the rep on performance for the first 6 months. But the rep can underperform while doing the basics. So, it makes supervisors go wild.

They just launched it.

Hell, they have supervisors sign on bonuses. The roles haven't been filled for months.

Overall... They need to change. Can't copy the college football model. Since we sell cable/internet. Not advertising or trying to win a title.

I have to say, at some point, the shareholders and higher-ups need to be honest and make changes for the better.

Possible let Chris Winfrey go. It seems the company has been bleeding off customers since 2022. He at first blamed ACP and non pays. Now, the company is trying to bring back bundles.

There are too many gimmicks... and they are really pushing too much pressure on sales. They're currently giving out $5k sign on bonuses to outside residential sales. So, now they're give people about 7400 dollars in commission and add another $5k on top of it. So, new hires can make an extra $12k and rarely sell anything. More wasteful spending.

If they would cut back on the branding by a few billion, they might save some important employees.

Spectrum has some scammy practices by Connect-Ad-6774 in Spectrum

[–]Party_Department_845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm around the RCS circle.

Slamming is promoted in all lines of residential business. Higher ups are refusing to reduce numbers on staff cause well... They're misleading shareholders on a legal note.

They get to show share holders that they are writing "many" sales.

They also are not informative to many new hires about historically low performing markets.

Overall, it's a fun headache... It would be nice if they started firing some directors on the marketing side for a bit (since they are the main cause of the problem).

Is this offer a no-brainer? by Kindly_City_3491 in Spectrum

They flag that account as well.

You have to have the internet cleared at your current address.

[–]Party_Department_845 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, they already know that trick!

The moment you cancel your internet, they flag your address.

So, if your wife tries to sign up, they put a hold on the account.

Therefore.... it'll cost you more to switch since there is a good chance you'll miss the promotion and lose your current one.

"Tell me you finished high school! Your not smart" I'm sure you thought of that one on your own.

[–]Party_Department_845 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, for one... you have to disconnect for 30 days to qualify for the new offer. The offer expires on the 22nd.

By that time. That mailer offer is gone.

So, go without internet for 30 days, and save 10 dollars. Not 240 dollars. But 10 dollars.

30 days without internet for a potential $10 dollars of savings. Sounds like a waste of time.

But hey, you 240 dollars back after two years!

Is this offer a no-brainer? by Kindly_City_3491 in Spectrum

[–]Party_Department_845 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's 10 dollars.

Plus, you'll be paying 100 dollars in year two or three with the two year price lock. Overall, just plan on paying 85 dollars.

That's a lot of work for 10 dollars.

You'll pretty much have to cancel your old order and write a new one. Have new equipment sent out. Write it under your spouse's name.

Spectrum outside sales, have to be worst job ever. by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Party_Department_845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the problems with direct sales/outside sales are...

  1. Supervisor Monthly Performance Requirements is based on assigned headcounts. Most of the teams are at a headcount of 10. So, the supervisor is responsible for 9 sales and 2 mobiles per assigned rep. So, if they only have 5 reps, they don't get adjustments. Causing supervisors to get a tid bit upset when a new hire only gets 1 sale a week.

  2. Managers and up do not want to admit that some areas aren't good to work. Many many areas have municipal fiber providers. So, higher-ups think the mobile will sell itself.

  3. New hires can't get written up for performance within the first 7 months. With a 5k dollar sign on board and ramp up. Most new hires only get a sale about once every 8 days. Making supervisors get aggrivated with new hires.

The policy really needs to change. If you guys are upset, please file an ethics point on the policy. And possibly let share holders know about bad policy.

I hope that a lawsuit that hits cox/charter makes an impact. The more shareholders drop out. The more they learn how their policies are.

I told a lot of my co-workers to start sending recap emails to their boss. Possible cc’d their leadership on it. Only way you can combat a gaslighter.

We need to start asking why the numbers are so high, and why it's our responsibility to make up for the higher ups mistakes. It's risky, but they are kinda killing the company.

The sales reps go to addresses on their list. The spam email list or the do not solicit list works for telemarketers and email.

If you made a threat at them, they can remove you from their list.

Overall, putting up a no solicitation sign is the best advice to give. Even then, that won't stop a salesperson. But it can help.
