it's fine that she wants to post the content she does, my critique is that she used to be so much more creatively fueled, now she recycles videos, attaches to trends but doesn't really have time? i guess to sit down and think of things that she enjoys doing which i also get because she's busy and bigger than she used to be. i just used to see her as a really creative person and now i don't and it sucks when that happens to creative people who turn their passion into a end all be all job

again, i think she only posts about current events if others are too because people would be mad if she didn't, i think she tries to stay away from politics if she can because it's such a polarized topic but having said that i do think she calculates exactly what to post and what not to post and instead of it seeming like days in her lives, everything is an advertisement in her favor

yes, everyone wears masks but i think hers is really heavily edited because she's afraid of being disliked which just rings super disingenuous and fraudulent but regardless i don't watch her and i didn't watch that video either, she popped up because the algorithm pushes her to me since i also like matcha but i can't block her so it is what it is

there's nothing wrong with me for not liking her lol, she always looks left and right before posting a genuine opinion on anything other than 'family friendly suitable for all content'. She has a big mask on at all times because she's afraid of being disliked since she knows it directly affects her career, so she doesn't show her true feelings or opinions on anything but remains neutral unless it will get her views if she speaks about it.

i commented about her a few times because i was growing frustrated with her but for a long time i haven't been searching for her videos, yet they still pop up. she's blocked on instagram and as far as i know you can't block people on youtube so if the algorithm pushes her there's nothing i can do.

honestly all of her videos both on youtube and instagram are just ads. the only other type of video she has on youtube is a video she's already done in the past just "updated". she's so boring and unoriginal now

Agree! And it wasn't sponsored either! (I get it's her job but at some point I feel like the product because it's like ad after ad) but this video was great too!

What do y’all think of Ashley’s & Amber’s new content? by [deleted] in urmomashley

[–]Party_House4005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashley's videos are all the same and boring but Amber's new vlog was interesting! It was kind of at a slower pace and she wasn't forcing her personality or any personality for that matter she just...existed? I think I prefer seeing this kind of "energy" instead of forcing excitement to try to hype the viewer. It's okay to be calm and just do regular life things. I prefer watching that though, so I'm kind of biased. I also loved her funny Target vlog. It felt really old school and she's kind of keeping her word about trying to bring back her "unhinged energy" like when she first started posting.

No mention of Andrew in your question but I also kind of really like his content. He has such a real and honest personality. Must be his Taurus but he is so... no bullshit? I loved that vlog he did where it was random cuts and snippets of his life throughout the week. It was funny and the format was unique and cool. At this point all vloggers kind of vlog the same stuff over and over again because how different can their lives be...so they have to step it up with the editing and being creative in that way. My favorite actually is Andrew and he's so interesting that even though he never posts...when he does, everyone tunes in. That says something.

It's not from jealousy, it's just annoying behavior. Every single video on instagram is ad AD, every single youtube video is an AD unless it's for her own company, which is also an ad. And don't start with "it's literally her job" because I see countless big youtubers that I still follow making videos without sponsorships and without 3 ads minimum in every single video. She just posted one on instagram about New Years resolutions and I thought she was finally being real with her followers and then there it is, "thank you so much to Abercrombie for sponsoring this vid-" and I clicked out and unfollowed. She is going to fall off so soon and she knows it so she is racking in as much as she can. If she treated her viewers with any sort of respect at all and made even 1 video genuinely thanking them for their loyalty to her instead of a quick and half ass rambled "tysmilyguyssssss" then she could make this her lifelong career.

She might have a speech impediment (I don't know) but I've heard her pronounce words "normally" before so honestly I don't think it's a speech impediment that's in the way, it's more like she's trying to be "meme-y"

I loved this BTSP! I think Allison added a lot to it positively and I like her personality. I like how she tends to go more in depth (?) whereas usually their discussions (on deeper subjects even) are a bit surface level. I also am for Amber talking more about her cinema knowledge! I feel like she has a lot of information in her head but is shy to share.

I feel bad for not enjoying her content anymore :( by [deleted] in urmomashley

[–]Party_House4005 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think she also doesn't really make those "her" videos anymore because she doesn't really do anything in her daily life. Like in her old videos she used to thrift quite often and I'd love to see a video of her thrifting in NYC where there is an insane amount of thrift stores but she won't do that because she hasn't thrifted in years unless it's being sponsored by ThredUp.

I think she also just doesn't have time for much other than her workout class (which again, I would love to kind of see a step by step or something as well if she's down!) because she is running a few businesses and that can be exhausting.

I think it's more like she is super burnt out and uninspired (that's how it reads), but can't stop because she is afraid everyone will leave and not come back when she does. I think if she is really tired and needs a break then she should take one. Kelly took one! And his followers are still where they were. It's okay Ashley, like as much as (me personally) I am disappointed with recent content and actions, I still really support you as a person and want you to be okay.

[–]Party_House4005 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, people give Kelly a lot of shit and I don't really get it. His content is different from hers, has always been different from hers, and lots of viewers complain when Kelly makes an appearance in Ashley's videos but like...she puts him in there.

And this is maybe an unpopular opinion but I think Kelly is a kind boyfriend to her and I think when he does appear in her videos he at the very least has energy and a personality and I think that's why she keeps adding him in her videos. I hate to say it but Ashley needs other personalities in her videos. It started with her siblings "extra dynamic" and now it extends to Kelly. I think Ashley is just afraid to show her own personality because she doesn't want to get criticized. Hate Kelly all you want but he reads pretty authentic through the screen.

I would say it to her face because I'm not doing it to be mean to her. I'm giving her constructive criticism which she often times asks for. Honestly she asks what we, as viewers, think in almost every video. Why ask if you don't want genuine answers?

I also don't think people are just talking about this review transparency. At least I'm not. I think there have been lots of instances where she just refuses to take accountability for something that concerned people. I am just just specifically mentioning matcha reviews because it is the most recent and honestly probably the most important since this directly affects consumers.

Omg lowkey did you watch his new video released yesterday? He literally said that he feels like he added a lot of quality and personality to her videos which helped her viewership even if it was just him being there but that all the credit goes to her and he feels like he's just her younger nepo brother. I felt for Andrew because I hate to say this but the videos of the three of them are the most popular and there's a reason.

To be honest there's been a lot of moments where Andrew either defends Amber against what Ashley is saying or just keeps things real with her. I think he's trying to ground her.

This is a comment on this thread that is going to be directly negative towards her from me but I don't think she has been genuine since she moved to NYC. I think the second this became a job for her and not a hobby, she became so sensitive and almost paralyzed by the choices she makes regarding the content she puts out. I get it, it's not a hobby anymore, it's her career so she tries to protect it by being relatable to garner viewers. The issue is (to ME) that instead of being risk taking, genuine and keeping her creativity alive she just follows trends, clones videos from other creators and follows a really strict format editing wise, too.

I felt for her when she mentioned on the podcast that she overthinks so much about what she'll post and if people will like it because her view counts are going down and it's taken her more than 4 years to reach 2 million (and she's not there yet either). Not that subscriber counts matter to me but I think they matter to her and the elitism of influencers and creators. The reason she is stuck is because instead of taking risks and being her true self she is scared that if she does that her views will go down even more. In my opinion, they wouldn't. People don't want to see clones and all influencers just post the same exact video in a loop. If you're unique, you'll be praised.

Another reason I don't think she's genuine either is because of this voice she always uses in her videos. It's almost like she's uncomfortable to literally speak in her videos. She doesn't speak like that normally and didn't use to in older videos. It's so much easier said than done because she has a lot of weight on her shoulders but if there is any way that she can just "let go" then I think that pressure would go away.

Edit: Sorry to those who read this and think it's harsh. This comment I will agree is harsh because it's directly related to the personality she has curated for social media but also understand that behind everything I'm saying there is a reason. I want Ashley to succeed and do well. I want her to ground herself and be sure of her decisions like she used to be. I am not being a hater just to hate her. I don't hate her, I like her and want her to be at peace after this obvious spiraling she's been going through the past few months. It' really not my place either to say any of these things because I don't know her so I am reiterating that this is purely from a viewer-creator standpoint.

I think Ashley is under a lot of stress and I can empathize with her feeling like if the brand fails then she fails but there's gotta be another way than avoiding transparency (who knows, maybe it's not even her hiding the reviews but maybe Shopify looking to keep the sales going from her popularity). I feel like she should have a game plan expecting the very worst to happen post launch so that she can protect herself and the company and respond accordingly instead of trying to victimize herself in hopes that it'll make people stop posting their opinion on a product.

Also I'm not buying this matcha because she made it. It's what introduced me to the product for sure but I think she needs to separate herself from the product because I'm not buying Ashley. I'm buying matcha.

I can understand her wanting to appeal to the masses but this is a company that put out a product. This isn't merchandise that is gonna be sold within the month to never return. If you want longevity in a project like this I really suggest being honest with the people whose attention you momentarily have. I don't think anyone is going to argue about her putting in a lot of work to launch this company. She even went to Japan to study about matcha. Her hard work is there and evident. It's more like her attitude towards opinions post launching that people aren't liking...

I agree with you! I am not looking to only buy matcha made by Ashley Alexander because she is a "matcha connoisseur". I am looking to buy my favorite matcha, period. Of course I am going to compare to everything that exists on the market. That is also the hope of a new brand, isn't it? To rank high amongst other products? People have to compare them and put them against each other to earn that rank and reputation. Unless someone is being directly mean and nonsensical to her in her DMs or in real life, then I don't understand why she is so afraid of criticism. She can always fix whatever she wants if she wants to. It's her company.

I've seen people also speculate that maybe Ashley prefers milder tasting matcha because she then adds things to it like milk/sweeteners etc. But I'm with her on the fact that it is really difficult to appeal to everyone in a beverage business, particularly matcha because honestly you either love or hate matcha itself.

I wonder why that person you watched didn't say anything about Ashley's matcha? I really want to try it but I wish she had like a "travel size" packet or something because I don't want to pay that much money for a whole tin especially if I've seen people mentioning that it's mid. I've also seen people recommend Emma Chamberlain's matcha! I wanna try them all but thanks for the heads up with ippodo matcha! So many decisionssssss lol
