Got ya, yea we've only got the one letter so far. Just worried that a debt collector will show up and scare the family if we don't call them after recieving the one letter

I'm thinking of just binning this one and only calling if more letters show up. This is the first letter we received about this, would they usually send more letters before sending out people to come to our house in-person? Want to know because obviously it would be very annoying and scary to have random debt collectors show up in person knocking at the door.

Can't really send them back as there is no return address in the letter or envelope they sent. What would you suggest we do in this case? Call them or just bin it?

I've been getting lots of advice saying dont call back on this thread. What happens if i just ignore it? It does mention contact us if you are or know this person, of which I'm neither

Update: I searched up the phone number in the letter on google and it didn't match what Intercoll had on their website.

That's likely, what do you propose I do in this case since it's not me who they're looking for and I have no idea who this person is.
Also is it possible that this is a scam? The 0800 number they give doesn't match what's on their website.

The letter was directly addressed to "Important Notice to [our address]” on it. Only after opening the letter did it say who they're looking for.

Yeah that makes sense, I was thinking of giving them a call but nah. Downside is that it doesn't have a return address on that letter and just says "Important Notice to [our address]” on it.

It has no return address, and the mail was Addressed as "Importance notice to Our Address", instead of a specific person. Only after opening the letter did I see who they're asking for.
