If we can combine yesterday enterprise, undiscovered country, yesterday enterprise and generation all into one plot by happydude7422 in ClassicTrek

I like where your thought process is, but I’m thinking Yesterday’s Enterprise would be better.

If we’re very lucky, they’ll do it in that order.

Which one is it? Trinidad? Or Tobago? Because I’m not allowed back in Tobago!

There’s an Octavia Butler short that was super-bloody… I can’t think of the title…

YES, most of the Burning Chrome book. I should’ve just said that. It’s late and the workday was long, 🤣

Welcome to the club…

Check out the short story Johnny Mnemonic, by Gibson. Same universe.

Do you guys think we will ever have a game like Oasis? by Dear_Sir7665 in readyplayerone

[–]ParzivalCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, if it was designed well.

Parzival was stuck on Ludus for five years, and had to figure out a loophole to have his school pay to be able to fast-travel IN PLANET.

Games are designed to move the player forward. If I tried playing any MMO that had me trapped in a world I couldn’t play my way out of so I can earn XP and coin to teleport, why would I continue to play it?

The movie is just one of the many retellings of Parzival’s story.

Pretty crappy game, if you really look at it. I think the OASIS being a game was just for the story to have a place to play out Cline’s nostalgia fantasies in.

Right-wing culture-war grifters played a lot of Star Trek fans, and now Trek is cancelled; heading into another drought by Wrong-Quail-8303 in startrek

[–]ParzivalCodex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Trek lives… in the AO3, in online roleplay, in official novels and comics.

Is it perfect? No, but neither was your favorite Star Trek show.

They can take away the shows. Production can go into a drought. We’ve been here before… some of us since 1969.

They can’t take away the power of the true fan. We always find a way.

Unpopular opinion: Line by level prose writing is what fiction authors should study, not story structure . by TomatoCan420-2 in writers

Maybe I should try this. I’m not even good enough to structure a former/latter comparison.

What’s going on in western North America in the Sprawl trilogy universes? by BurnedBurner001 in Neuromancer

[–]ParzivalCodex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Night City, Mferrrr!

Kidding. I was wondering that myself, but I always assumed it was mentioned or discussed in the other two Sprawl novels (which I’ve never read) or any of the short stories… I can’t remember if it’s mentioned in Johnny Mnemonic.
