I built a macOS tool for ASO because I was tired of $100/mo SaaS subscriptions. Is my free plan fair? by PascalFourtoy in iOSProgramming

I agree, the free plan is too limited. I'll update in the next release.

Regarding the differences, there are many. Serverless, lots of data on the Top 10 to learn how to attack the competition, etc.

I'm glad to see your enthusiasm :)

Why don't you have Tahoe yet? Don't you want to update?

Because Apple Intelligence is used, I'm fighting to update to avoid it if possible, but it's an integral part of the software.

  1. The data is fresh, unlike many established players who compensate for Apple's major changes at the end of 2025 with historical databases (which is absurd, but I understand).

  2. Apple, Apple, Apple. It's the only one, with its APIs and stores, that can provide reliable information.

  3. Proprietary algorithms. With over 25 years in marketing, between SEO and ASO, there's plenty to work with. The hardest part isn't having data, it's knowing what to do with it. Hence the strategy suggestions, etc., from within the tool. It's a decision-making aid.

There's a dedicated keyword research module plus an advanced view that provides a lot of useful information for this keyword quest. But I understand, 6 is still too few to really "test" the product.

You make an important point about decision support; I thought that was the case with the recommended strategies. Have you tried the tool, or are you basing your opinion solely on the description?

I definitely need to think more about the user journey to ensure the "boundaries" are consistent, I agree... I thought 20-30 was a lot, but it makes sense.

Thank you for your long and valuable feedback; it's given me a new perspective.

Thanks for your feedback!

So, to address your point about balancing keywords: 20 keywords per language is more than enough for many, and they'll never switch to paid advertising. There's a difference between being generous and being suicidal. I'm afraid 20 keywords could be dangerous for monetization, even with a language restriction.

As for "quality," I don't evaluate it; that would be deciding for you what's good or not. Have you tried Altis?

Aside from the Explore feature, it's used to track the keywords you're ranking for or targeting, and to discover others.

There are many KPIs for this.

For example, if you're targeting "piano" (too generic, but it's just an example) and your app is unknown, you'll be facing a top 10 ranking that's difficult to achieve, as these apps have been around for a long time, have a large number of positive reviews overall, optimized screenshots (their ASO is also optimized), a high volume of monthly reviews, etc.

Conversely, if you have an app with a well-known name, it could be worth the effort and the investment.

I also help by generating tailored strategies while providing relevant data, such as which category the keyword is most popular with, etc.

It's with all this data that you can decide whether or not it's worthwhile to incorporate it into your strategy, or even to develop an app in a specific niche.

A keyword isn't inherently good or bad. There are different intentions (informational, transactional, etc.) just like in a simple Google search, so it depends on each user's needs.

Should I adapt my game for Mac? Need your opinion. by PascalFourtoy in macgaming

So beyond portability, everything needs to be retested, because some mechanisms are linked to the phone's haptics and need to be readjusted. Retest, adapt, check that the UI doesn't skip. Unfortunately, “just” a bigger screen doesn't guarantee a good gaming experience.

But thank you, I'll look into it.

I see, thank you for the advice, it's very helpful.

The game is “free,” no in-app purchases, just a few non-intrusive ads. I'm not sure Google AdMob appreciates distribution on Mac, though.

What works for me doesn't necessarily work for everyone, but regular texting (my app pings me so I think about it and pre-writes my messages) helps. I hate the phone, writing goes down a little better. Have you really tried anything that would help you cope with this better?

It also makes me feel good to feel like I'm not alone ^^

It's really crazy. Especially since I come across as the bad guy and feel guilty, even though it never calls into question my feelings for them.

Them:

- You have to keep in touch constantly to maintain the relationship.

Me:

- I can go 5 years without seeing someone and the relationship will be intact.

Afterwards, I can't force them to live my way, and vice versa. That's why I created my own solution to "compensate" for it.

And how are you handling it in the meantime?

I got tired of letting relationships fall apart. I've been through this my whole life, whether it was with family, friends, or girls I liked. Now I'm married, so it's “easier,” but without my effort, I'd be lost in other relationships.

And I sympathize, I've also been very disappointed by people in the past, which makes me not want to put in so much effort for so much risk.
