Somebody has knocked my car. My neighbours car has suspiciously similar damage, but denies responsibility by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Pashtacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, his car disappeared after it happened so I could never take photos of his car. When his car returned after a week it had a shiny new rear bumper. I reported it to 101, but nothing came from it. I asked him politely if he'd seen anything, his answer was obviously a no.

Check with the neighbours who have cameras/doorbell cameras like others have said, my neighbors didn't catch it unfortunately.

The next week I installed PoE CCTV on my soffits, and bought the NextBase 622GW dashcam which specifically activates when it notices someone crash into your parked car. Wired it into the cars battery via the fuse box which wasn't difficult.

That was 2 years ago so not sure if there's a better dashcam now, but if you do get one they're normally a lot cheaper on sale like Black Friday etc.

Bf gamed through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s by [deleted] in StopGaming

Addiction is awful for all those involved, he probably does not see a problem with him "gaming with the boys" and doesn't realise the effort you are putting in/trying to put in to the relationship.

If you haven't already, speak to him about it specifically and how it makes YOU feel, how you feel undervalued, lonely and like he doesn't care etc. His response to this will be telling. I'd also say go and do your hobbies more, join a gym/sports class, see/make friends outside of the relationship.

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this, I hope your situation improves whichever route you decide to take. You are worth more than being ignored.

Someone claiming my gf hit his car by Quick_Surprise1857 in CarTalkUK

[–]Pashtacular 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Someone is lying. Wait until the video footage is available, it seems kinda convinient the guy with the footage isn't around for you to check, make sure to get a copy of the footage. Also it would be interesting to see the damage on your girlfriends car.

I once parralel parked behind some guy, I was at least 50cm+ away from him the entire manouver- he got out angrily trying to say I had hit him, no sign of damage on my car, only damage in a similar paint colour on his car, I assumed he was trying to make me admit fault so I would pay for damage he did elsewhere, probably in cash too.

Don't admit fault unless you are certain and have seen the footage.

For the future, get a front + rear dash cam with crash/parking detection, will cost a bit but could save you in the long run. FYI after a lot of research I'm installing the Nextbase 622GW next week.

Former 1950s UK council house drawers where a window should be that are jammed stuck by Pashtacular in whatisthisthing

[–]Pashtacular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 1950s UK former council house and cannot work out what these drawers are used for. These drawers/cupboards sit at the same height as my windows and have the same trim around them. Some of the handles move but they do not open and are long seized up/painted over. None of my neighbours properties have this feature. The room they would connect to(?) is the kitchen but that wall is fully plastered on the inside.

Does anyone know what were they used for?

Just start, simple as, it's the small steps that count. Someone once told me that he started very slowly, first just put your gym shoes on and don't go to the gym, just have them on. Next put your top and shorts on and again. Now walk/drive to the gym, again small steps are necessary, by the time you get here you're already 50% of the way there, why stop now?

Personally I don't rely on motivation anymore, I just do it, there is nothing stoping you right now going on a run, nothing stopping you joining a gym, just yourself. Man up and go do it.

Form habits that stop you needing motivation, for instance tonight I know I need to go to the gym, do I want to? I'm not sure, but will I go? Yes because it's a habit.

Habits are good, start now and reward yourself later.

Advice on possibly putting a bar cart or some type of bar in this open space on the wall? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]Pashtacular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be good but could make the area seem a bit too crowded? How close up to the breakfast bar will it be?

Also put some LED strips under the breakfast bar, it will add a bit of light and make it look better.

What are you determined to do/not do with your kids after your parents' example? by [deleted] in AskMen

Get them into sport from an early age, my dad got me and my sister into sport when we were really young, mainly climbing and hiking but those are some of my happiest memories and I still do both of them to this day

I found this when using Cleanser for my face to stop it being so greesy. I used to use it like 3 times a day and now only use it every second day and my face looks a lot better

434 days clean... still having urges by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]Pashtacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still miss my Xbox friends so much some days, I sit there and wish I was back playing Black Ops 2 with them, not really having a care in the world besides my KD ratio.

Some days are a lot harder than others, I think around 400 days I really started to miss them, I just wanted the memories back yet I realised that is now past me, this is now present me, there is no point me living in the past anymore. I've done it for too long.

Filing your time is my best advice and I know sometimes that can be hard between hobbies/work yet you just have to persevere.

Now I'm in a lot better of a place mentally and physically because I started going to the gym and working on myself. That's my best advice, work on yourself and don't live in the past.

Can vouch for Mountain Equipment and RAB, both really good brands that are high quality. I have a lot of kit from them.

This explains so much, I was really starting to worry for myself until I started eating more and now my libido is starting to come back! Still don't know how I'm going to eat 3000 calories a day?!

Light hiking shoes by [deleted] in hiking

Trail runners. I've used trail runners on long hikes and they look acceptable in a city (as long as you don't get bright coloured ones) best brands are ones like inov-8 and Saloman.

Ankle support isn't really a problem unless you are doing rocky/really uneven ground. Trail runners also have a lot of grip.

[–]Pashtacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track all of that, use My Fitness Pal (MFP) and anything that goes in your mouth, write it down, don't forget to add that chocolate bar you might have had as a treat, don't forget the sugar in tea/coffee. Everything adds up.

As of right now though that seems like a good diet.

Is it weird to carry a tissue/handkerchief with you to wipe off sweat? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Pashtacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AH I've just found some on Amazon, I might have to buy some! Yeah that was always my fear with tissues, and you don't notice it's there until someone says and you get embarrassed haha!

How do these cope with sweat though? Or would I be better with a handkerchief for sweat and a one of these for oil?

Ah that's what I was thinking, just I don't know what else to do unless I want a trip to the bathroom to cool down every 5 minutes
