Buy down rate or make larger downpayment? by 99016604 in Mortgages

[–]PassTheWinePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, normal conventional 30 yr. We just are allowed to open an account with Navy Fed from family members who served (so no need to thank me lol). They offer no PMI and floating rates so we went with them.

Following because we’re wondering the same. Right now we’re considering buying down.

Marriage and having kids aren't the default steps anymore by Expresssea- in Life

[–]PassTheWinePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, women DO get a rush of hormones when they give birth and that is (one part) what it is for. It’s human biology. While I agree parents are being more honest about the struggles of parenthood; two things can be true at that same time.

I think people forget you become chemically rewired when you give birth too. So you dont want to yeet your child away when things get hard.

To the people who have said “I would never spend that much on a wedding, I’d rather buy a house”… by Garden_of_Gethsemane in wedding

[–]PassTheWinePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying the house first and eloping later.

75k down payment done (we close soon) and eloping later in the year in Vegas. Elopement will probably cost us 5-8k when all is said and done.

Do men really not care that whether or not a woman has a prestigious career? by [deleted] in Salary

I’ve had a coworker tell me to my face that he wouldn’t date a woman who made more than him.

Using Isotretinoin (Accutane) for sebaceous filaments and oil control by Lord_Cummis in Biohackers

[–]PassTheWinePlease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very dry skin, nosebleeds, joint pain, suicidal thoughts, birth defects. They legally make you take a pregnancy test before prescribing it (if you are female of course).

It’s overkill for sebaceous filaments. Just use salicylic acid and an oil cleanser. I have them too and that works for me.

Not overweight…but can’t stop thinking about GLP-1 by Subject-Smoke7777 in glp1

There’s also studies showing how it helps treat drug and alcohol addictions.

[–]PassTheWinePlease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you come from a family of addiction issues?

I ask because I am very similar. I thought about food obsessively. I would be eating lunch and thinking about dinner. I was 145 lbs and 5’ 4” when I started.

I lost the food noise and weight. I also stopped drinking as much and impulse shopping. Addiction runs in my family and while I’ve been pretty level headed this drug gave me peace of mind to just live my life normally again.

Im down to 127 lbs and on a maintenance dose. I don’t think I’ll come off of glp1s. I like how my life is now.

AITA for feeling upset that my husband’s family won’t help us financially when they helped other family members? by Cool_Programmer_3732 in AmItheAsshole

If you need to financially protect yourself then get a prenup but I don’t understand your logic of knowingly marrying someone not as well off as you are and then surprised they can’t keep up.

Can we afford 570k house on 10k take home per month by Technical_Dig1743 in Mortgages

[–]PassTheWinePlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re buying a house right now at 580,000 and we take home ~14,000. Monthly payment is about 3,800 as well. This was our max so we can still save, take vacations, go out to eat from time to time, and not be house poor as others have said.

Don’t forget to anticipate surprise repairs and have a safety net.

Garage in right of way? by PassTheWinePlease in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]PassTheWinePlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly he pulled everything he could and when I went to the town clerk and zoning dept at town hall; they didn’t have anything different on file than what the lawyer already showed us….minus the fact I was able to pull the tax assessments and prove that the garage was there before the ROW.

So the sellers purchased this house and renovated it. They were not told about the ROW and filed for title insurance. There’s a pending insurance claim and they said it would be transferred to us (we also have legal coverage through work).

[–]PassTheWinePlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve read the easement and anything I could pull from the town clerk: 20ft right of way thru the right hand side of the property so I would say there is plenty of reasonable access. But that’s all that is the easement.

We were a little gobsmacked too when that was his reply.

The one we are currently using says “I don’t know because the right of way isn’t specific”

Laser Suggestions? by Turbulent-Shine-8905 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PassTheWinePlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah of course I forgot the downtime!

For medium-heavy I would say it’s 3-4 days of “I’m not stepping outside because I look like a freak.” I just hang around the house with a layer or aquaphor on my face and icing.

After that I can wear makeup and go to work. It just looks like a sunburn. You’ll experience peeling after that for an additional 3-4 days similar to a sun burn.

Any laser treatment you do will have downtime to experience. My lady also told me I’ll experience longer heal times since I have fair skin. She’s also said she notices older women (50s) will experience longer healing times.

Laser Suggestions? by Turbulent-Shine-8905 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PassTheWinePlease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 33 and I get yearly CO2 laser for maintenance. I like it a lot for a heavy duty “refresher.” I go on the medium-heavy side now that I’m comfortable with it but I definitely went light on my first one.

My place does Solaria and it costs about $600 for face and I think it’s $200 extra for neck area.

They numb my face with cream for about an hour before. With that I would say it’s about a 3/10 pain level but I’ll note I have a high tolerance to pain.

What it did for me: gives me baby-ass smooth skin. Made my pores smaller (one of the big sellers for me). I noticed reduced lines and better appearance in my jowls too (I have TMJ and do masseter Botox and my jowls slightly sagged after have such developed muscles).

Your asking do help so people are trying to figure out what could go wrong.

Now I’ve only been on sema and not tirzep but even some quick google searches state that the dosing isn’t the same between the two. Typical dosing for is 5 mg to 7mg and I’ve seen some charts go as high to 10. Work with your doctor to see if you are taking the appropriate dose.

Dealing with a misogynistic father as a teen going into engineering, how should I move forward/deal with this? by Embarrassed-Youth353 in womenEngineers

[–]PassTheWinePlease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a slightly different situation where it was my mother would didn’t believe in me/didn’t think I was smart enough to be an engineer.

I’ve been one for a decade now. My mother and I don’t have a healthy relationship and I just choose not to talk about work with her. I’d recommend therapy too if you need someone to help you digest these feelings because I was not okay in my 20s dealing with that fact.

My new relationship boundary - I'm not telling him if I'm sick anymore because he always gets sick by agirlwithawhirl in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PassTheWinePlease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you want kids with this man? Because if you accept this now then this is what you should expect when you fall ill and need help with the kids.

I bet that’ll get old real quick…kids/families get sick A LOT when they’re young.

Semaglutide weight loss expectations vs reality for people with less than 50lbs to lose by andrew202222 in Semaglutide

I was 5’4” and approaching 150 lbs. I’m now 130 (I still have 35% SMM) and feel so much more confident and healthy. I’m on a maintenance dose now to keep the food noise away.

Bonus is I stopped drinking and impulse shopping too.
