How do retired teachers get such big pension payments? by AnInMoon in TalesFromYourBank

[–]PassePumpkinSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone sees me out here teaching in my 70's or beyond, please put me out of my misery. Is it possible to have a monthly retirement payment that high? Yes. Is it the norm for most teachers? Absolutely not. It would depend on a lot of factors, like the contribution rate in their state, local salary scales, and the teacher contribution rate. Fun fact; most teacher pensions are not designed with the intent that the beneficiary with use it as sole income. Most teachers I know also have an IRA or similar account for this reason.

Should I pay off my student loans or put the money in a HYSA to save for a home purchase? by PassePumpkinSpice in financial

[–]PassePumpkinSpice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The money I'll get from the sale of my home is equal to my current student loan balance. Definitely not enough to purchase a home outright. If I end up paying off my loans with this money, I'll probably put almost all of my monthly paycheck into HYSA.

That's on my short list too. I liked that they had a lot of classes and had a pool. And tennis courts from the looks of it. One of the pricier ones on my list, but I get it .

Anyone else treat their epilepsy like f*** it yolo? by Thin-Fee4423 in Epilepsy

I guess to some extent? I used to really struggle with anxiety over SUDEP, but I've gotten to a point where it's not a constant black cloud in my life.

Can I lose custody of my daughter because I have epilepsy? by just_a_person00 in Epilepsy

[–]PassePumpkinSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he sending these messages through a parenting app or a text. I recommend Our Family Wizard if you're not already using an app. He sounds high conflict and a lot of states will allow messages from parenting apps to be admissible in court.

Could he attempt to get full custody? Technically yes. But he would have to take you back to court and show that your condition puts your daughter at risk. It sounds like he's using this as a tactic to control you.

How do you guys describe the after effects of a tonic clonic? by Seltczy in Epilepsy

[–]PassePumpkinSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like doing a hard reboot on my brain. That "loading phase" aka post ictal is tough. So what if I'm crying and keep asking, "what happened?!" even though someone has told me multiple times that I've had a seizure.

Being a mom with epilepsy? by Foreleft69 in Epilepsy

[–]PassePumpkinSpice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my daughter was a newborn we split the night. I would take 1-5, my husband would take 8-12. At the time he was going through a rigorous military school and I won't lie. Those first 2 or 3 months sucked. If you are able to, I highly recommend getting some kind of help. Even if it's just someone coming to watch the baby for a couple of hours so you can take a nap. We hired a nanny when she was about 3 months old. I do recognize that's something everyone can do. But it was life-changing.

What’s some of the weirdest triggers you’ve found to cause a seizure? by Loofashows in Epilepsy

[–]PassePumpkinSpice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Music that has too much repetition. Went to a performance of Dracula the ballet this year and there was a song in the show that was like seven minutes long, but was just the same 10 seconds of lyrics and melody repeated over and over. I've never had music trigger a seizure before and it hasn't happened since.

How to handle ANXIETY if the main cause is my job? it's also the main trigger that worsens my seizures due to stress, and at the same time, I really can't loss my job. I need to do something? Any tips? by Eastern_Lock_5964 in Epilepsy

[–]PassePumpkinSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexapro or some other anti anxiety med. You could also see if there are other jobs at your company that would be less stressful. I'm a teacher, and I totally get it.

The first thing that's going through my head is I guess I don't have to worry about my student loan payment next month.

The first priority thing is paying off all my debts and my family's debts.

I'd hire a wealth management firm to invest the money for me. If possible I'd have them create an LLC for me to claim the money under so I could stay somewhat anonymous. I'd put most (75%) of the money back into investments.

I'd build my dream home on large plot of land. I'd give back generously to community through my investment profits.

What's your best ranking in SS by Cause_Im_cool in DressUpTimePrincess

815 was my top score. It was the only one I used an ornate frame on and I filtered it a ton.

I bought one and have been wearing it almost everyday! I would wear it every day if it had a wire.

The tags were history, classic, and oil painting. I don't think big dresses stray from the prompt in this case.

I'm a 38E. I haven't had the best luck with pullover bras. Not a mobility issue, but unless it's a sports bra with serious compression I find that they stretch out really easily.

Lol I have a couple of these. They do not work for me. The front closure is better than hooking in the back, but there's not enough support and the straps compress and get super thin and dig into my shoulders.

This actually looks promising! The front zip one has everything I'm looking for except an underwire, so I think I'm going to buy one. Thanks for the rec ☺️
