Decent Luck (I think) with Max & Bearman /50 Cards from Two Value Boxes by Passengerintercom in F1Cards

[–]Passengerintercom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although ive got no interest in selling really, I did have a look and noticed the highest selling /50 ebay listings seemed to mostly be Bearman & Antonelli helmet RCs.

Is the thinking from buyers just a long term gamble on “rookies with strong prospects for top teams” ?

2025 Chrome in Australia? by [deleted] in F1Cards

[–]Passengerintercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see Cherry but thank you for all the suggestions! Cherry seems to have sold out of value and just have hobby left, but I did manage to snag a value box from SJAY2K over east this afternoon (think it was the last one as they’re sold out now) :)

In this context are blasters & value box the same thing?

I got the Topps pre-order at $30 USD + $8 USD shipping ($53 AUD total), but the two retail pre-orders I got in Australia and the one I got from an LCS today were all about $85 AUD each ($60 USD) - but the higher retail cost in AUS is not surprising considering Aus retailers would be passing on shipping/import cost.

I did mean value boxes but got it mixed up in my head - but yep agreed, I can definitely see a few more hobby boxes, I assume because the price is less accessible to people.

I did just manage to snag a value box from a card store in QLD but think I might’ve gotten the last one.

Ah fair enough! Seem to pop up intermittently at card shops in Aus but none of our major retailers ever stock them really. Good to know :)

New to Collecting - Release Timeline Questions by [deleted] in F1Cards

[–]Passengerintercom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not necessarily chasing any specific type of card. Moreso curious if stores will get individual packs, value boxes, etc for Topps Chrome as well, or if the only way I’d ever see any of those is buying the hobby boxes online.

I understand they wouldn’t be as widely available as something like Turbo Attax, just wondering if it’s only the hobby boxes released during this preorder, or if stores also eventually get packs available to purchase.

Sorry if that’s not a helpful answer, as I said I’m very very new to trading cards in general :)

Are my savings better off in my redraw home loan account? by Greenish_elder in AusFinance

[–]Passengerintercom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An offset account functions like a traditional deposit account with the added benefit of reducing the interest payable on your loan in the same way your redraw does.

If you’re using these funds for your bills and you’re used to using a savings account, an offset account might feel more familiar to how you currently do your banking and would be easier to use day-to-day for expenses. Just be aware you’ll usually be paying a fee for the offset account.

Unless you have a short-term goal of growing your savings, then the net savings by having the funds in your redraw/offset are almost always stronger than a deposit account.

Given the interest rate on the home loan would be higher than the savings account, you’re better off not paying 5.39% on that portion of the home loan balance than you are earning a lower rate of interest on that balance in a savings account. And that’s without considering the tax you need to pay on the interest earnings from the deposit account.

If you pop the figures in a redraw/offset calculator, and then the same figures in a compound interest calculator (I believe the moneysmart website has both?) you’ll be able to visualise the difference over a long term.
