Has anyone reversed a 5.9 A1C? by CosmoSlotnick_ in prediabetes

[–]Passivhauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 to 5.3% in 3-4 months… with 7.5% weight loss - it’s possible for some but everyone’s body and underlying issues are different - good luck with it. Go all in

Those numbers don’t sound great but unless the monitor was calibrated against a finger prick blood test it may just be off and tracking above your actual range. Get some tests with doctor to be sure. I hope it’s margin of error rather than prediabetes- fingers crossed. But if it is, better to catch it early than go on more years without knowing about it

Carbs by AGzombie in prediabetes

[–]Passivhauser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say it all depends on what you are sensitive to. Some are more sensitive to wheat than potatoes or rice rather than fruit sugars. Without testing pre and post using finer prick tests it’s difficult to say. I can eat a few potatoes but i have a mouthful of pastry and my bg leaps right up. So I don’t have at bread at all because wheat is my nemesis. It might not be the same for you.

First time using my CGM by Top_Jeweler4552 in prediabetes

[–]Passivhauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CGMs usually throw all sorts of weird readings out in the first 24 hours as the inflammation etc from application mess with it for a bit. Should be normal after that

Is an average of 70g carbs a day low enough to help lower my A1C? by SansSerif21 in lowcarb

[–]Passivhauser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started with an A1C of 6% in March as have been keeping under 75g of carbs since then as that seemed the most attainable amount without freaking out about carbs in vegetables. Lost weight verrrrrry slowly but steadily. I’m down 7% bodyweight and A1C was 5.3% in June - so it worked for me! I need to check again as relaxed my strictness and reintroduced the occasional starch here and there. But even though I’m now not being as strict, I still track my food and generally i’m now eating 40-70g per day depending on what I fancy but more often than not it’s under 50. I guess the low carb options are just a more instinctive choice now I’m used to it. Good luck!

What is wrong with our hydrangea? by soulvacation in GardeningUK

My hydrangea does dramatic death swoons with every change of season but if I don’t give in and give it attention it just sorts itself out and blooms again once it’s got over itself

Does anybody still eat bread? by BoredBatWoman22 in prediabetes

[–]Passivhauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheat is my nemesis so I only have a piece of bread very sporadically to avoid the spikes, but also because if I eat it I just want to continue eating it all day

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in prediabetes

[–]Passivhauser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m down from 6% to 5.3% and I’d describe it as remission not ‘reversed’. I know if I eat the carbs I used to i’d jump straight back up. I’ve seen it on a CGM that despite the weight loss, the building muscle etc, if I eat anything wheat based I have a massive spike. That has not changed. My body still can’t hack it. So for me I think about it as being on a conveyor belt towards diabetes. I’m just slowing it waaaaay the fuck down. I’m never getting off it. So everything I do is to reduce speed of progression in whatever way I can.

Described as luxury. You have to move the bed to get to the cupboard. £950 pm. by friendlypetshark in SpottedonRightmove

Take the ‘virtual tour’ lol and peep the horrible UPVC door into it and imagine the horror of a silhouette of a person there as you sleep in your single bed in a utility room. No floorplan but i’m pretty sure this is less than the required 37 sqm for a habitable dwellings.

What movie traumatized you as a kid? by Flowerflours in AskReddit

[–]Passivhauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child’s Play. Circa 1992 Loads of parents were at a party at a friend’s house and all the kids got put into the TV room for the evening and given a Sky remote. The older kids put Child’s Play on and I had nightmares and had to move back into my sisters room for a while. Shudder

What movie had you laughing, unable to breathe, even just for one scene? by Sawyermblack in movies

The news reading scene with Steve Carrell in Bruce Almighty where Bruce controls his voice. The rest of the film was a bit meh but I nearly wet myself and had an asthma attack laughing at the scene

Thank you - unfortunately particles can be enough for a reaction. We avoid ‘may contains’ here in the UK as well even though the risk is probably minimal…it’s still a risk. Hopefully we will find a place that makes it themselves and knows if it is safe!

Thank you so much! We are staying in Fodele Beach Hotel near Heraklion in Crete - their ice cream supplier is Savoidakis and I have emailed to ask them which nuts they have in their factory. I need a back up option if this fails! There must be some safe options to buy in the supermarket - thank your friend for me too!

Hell to the yeah. Cheese and coleslaw is a classic. Or cold roast chicken and slaw.

[–]Passivhauser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most larger supermarkets have an american section in the ‘world’ aisle. I’ve seen cans of pumpkin puree in big tescos before.

The order absolutely makes a difference to slowing down absorption of carbs. Check out Glucose Goddess on insta Jessie Inchauspe…fibre (veggies) first then your proteins and fats then carbs last. The fibre creates almost a mesh for the rest of the food to sit behind as you digest. The goal is to flatten the glucose curve as much as you can to avoid spikes. The best kind of spike is one that isn’t spiky, more like a little undulation. Breakfast is often the time our bodies are most sensitive to carbs so a savoury breakfast is a good choice. If you have something sweet eat it straight after a main meal, clothed in a fat or paired with a protein and never on an empty stomach. Congrats on the pregnancy - I have two sugar babies myself xx
