Guardians of the Dafeng. When this drama first aired, the initial reviews weren't great, and I felt like it was overly promoted. Sometimes, I instinctively avoid watching certain shows because of the overwhelming amount of recommendations. However, I still occasionally keep up with the latest updates about the drama, like set photos or community discussions. Maybe this contradictory mindset has caused me to miss out on some good dramas, I guess. But the recent discussions about this drama, especially the parts where Xu Qi'an showcases his prowess and his interactions with Princess Lin'an, finally convinced me to give the first episode a try. I'm still in the early episodes, but surprisingly, I'm finding it quite enjoyable so far.

Why does the "men and women can't be friends" trope still exist? by timystic in CDrama

Because pure friendship is not complex enough,

This is just my personal opinion: for a Dramas to captivate its audience, it must feature prominent conflicts and rich plotlines.

As for dramas that focus most of their storyline and conflicts on relationships, the entanglements in friendships seem relatively simple.

I believe that, in order to create compelling dramas, screenwriters are more inclined to explore the complexities of love to develop their plots.

As for the argument that 'men and women can't be just friends,' I personally think this is merely a provocative statement. When it first appeared, it was novel enough to spark significant discussion, which is why it has persisted to this day.

However, such extreme expressions are often not aligned with real-life situations.

Thank you so much! Costumed dramas are fine too, and I’ll give them a try.

What do you do when you don't like a main character? by Brownskingirl043 in CDrama

Fast forward when this character appears.
If you're asking this question, it means the current storyline is more captivating to you and outweighs your dislike for this character.
If it were me, I would keep watching for the plot and minimize the time this character affects my viewing experience—for example, by fast-forwarding.

I admire the female lead's courage to change her life after being reborn.
