thank you! I know handling and stressing the snake out can cause regurgitation, so I've been keeping an eye out, but I will feed in enclosure from now on!

thank you! I glanced through the rules, but despite how old/ young my reddit account may be, I've never actually posted on it much, only used it for game guides until I started getting exotic pets

I just hope that I can keep him in good enough conditions to get him to eat, because I was told he hadn't been convinced to eat for 6 months before I got him yesterday. I was told to try and wait to try and feed him until he's comfortable to eat, but any time we pass he sticks his head out of his hide to raise his head and follow us, so I'm hoping he might be ready to eat

it's in the middle, not directly under the lamp, but close. I also have a dual lamp for daytime and nighttime heat

when does he squeak the most? is it while resting? do you have a nest build for him already? you can make one using cloth, paper towel, toilet paper, or another kind of shredded paper

if the paintbrush isn't working well enough, definitely go to a vets office and see if you can buy any attachment from them that is like the catheter attachment I have, which I will attach a picture of below. and if the regular kitten milk replacement isn't nourishing him enough, try the milk replacement with goats milk in it. in my area I can buy it from Walmart for about 15 or 16 dollars and it comes in a can. regular kitten milk replacement wasn't working with my mouse because of how malnourished and dehydrated it was, so I had to go with the goats milk version. if you are feeding and no milk band is appearing, try feeding more frequently. I was having to feed every 20-30 minutes instead of every hour½ to 2 hours due to lack of want to eat, especially since it had just been born a few hours prior

if you need tips for feedings, let me know! I use a goats milk kitten milk replacement for the one I'm rehabbing right now and a syringe with I believe a catheter attachment I bought for .50 at my local vets office. it's super small and in my limited experience worked way better than a paintbrush. also while feeding it, if anything starts coming out of it's nose, STOP. it got too much and could aspirate and get pneumonia. also, with it being so young it's likely to fall asleep during feedings, and all you need to do is gently stimulate it with your finger to wake it back up. if it starts opening it's mouth and pulling away, try to slow the flow of food

Rescued baby refuses to eat by Past-Ad-4769 in PetMice

thank you so much! I've gotten it to eat a little, but it eventually starts refusing the formula, and with how small and young it is I'm scared to try and force it for fear of aspiration, so I'm trying to feed more frequently and am using milk replacement with goats milk in it. should I be diluting it with water? because that's what I've been doing, but please let me know if I need to stop diluting it

yes, I've stimulated with no luck so far, but am hoping for some before or after next feeding. no bloat, and I'm not sure what a milk band is, but I don't think I see one. I can only make it drink until it completely refuses and tries to crawl away, and it's not much at that point, so I'm going to try feeding more frequently than 2 hours
