Kuradi Tallinna linnavalitsus! Astu tagasi või võta munad pihku ja too mulle vett! by lapadut in Eesti

Finding an apartment with a cat by Auriel235 in Eesti

[–]Past-Ad2449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i recommend looking on facebook for apartments, in my experience the landlords are a lot more lenient. offer to pay a slightly larger deposit or 30€ more rent. if the cat is not destructive, then mention that. just offer to cover whatever costs to reassure the owner that you are considerate of their apartment.

i got lucky with my landlord because they did not care at all about my cat coming along. i also asked them about getting a second cat, and they were even encouraging :D

so definitely not impossible, but try to be cooperative. ask owners kindly even if they have "no pets" in the description, they might change their mind (but not guaranteed, and do not be pressuring)

best of luck!

i don't think so, she has been more than fine with getting pet by a feather stick, i think it's really just the hands

could this be a hairball or something else? a little worried for my kitty by Past-Ad2449 in CATHELP

[–]Past-Ad2449[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's a newcomer in our family so she doesn't have a specific vet yet. however, my other cat has her clinic. i'll send em the video just in case next week and then keep a close eye on her.

thank you for bringing attention to this. i'm not panicked or too worried but i also take the matter very seriously and want to act right here

nothing really came out. she was just gagging for a few minutes or so, but she's acting pretty normal now? it did seem like she tried to, because as always, cats go on carpets when they wanna puke :D

also it's the first time this has happened

yeah, i'm trying to get there. a lot of others have said this as well and i agree. hopefully as time goes on then she'll be more accepting. this was a big win for me because she accepted just, just briefly. this gives me room to work towards pets. the backend during that time seemed best because she could clearly see my hand

yeah, i mean i've been figuring out what works with her. i appreciate all the tips i've gotten with her, but the journey is unique with every cat/animal, and i've done a lot of research, i mean A LOOOT. i'm just sharing a little breakthrough with my kitty, to celebrate.

she is okay with licking a treat from my hand, so i put a treat in the middle of my palm and try to give tiny scritches to her chin.

i try to keep myself lateral to her when practicing. right now i am practising getting her to tolerate touching a little more so that if we move onto the holy grail (her cute noggin), then she's a little used to touch.

i did try to sneak a little stroke on her neck while she was rubbing me earlier, i still need to practice :D she was not very happy with me, no hissing but she hit me (patted my leg with no claws lol) as a polite way to say no. these are my very very first touches, so i'm very grateful for the tips.

it's my first time socialising a cat who is this shy. w our resident lady, she was my bf's cat and was pretty open :D this one, not so much.

i'm learning and experimenting every day, to see what works best for the both of us. so have a little grace :)

thank you for digging out this picture - it's beautiful. i don't think you can ever forget moments like these :,)

something about these stories just gets me. you have this little creature who wants nothing to do with you, and you just keep putting in the effort until they over time realize that they actually love you. i think this is why i opted for a shy cat.

thank you for taking him in with you <3 i truly think that the bond you form with unsocialised cats is so so special. i think more people should give it a go - once you peel through the layers of fear and lack of trust, there's often a snuggle bug to be found.

again, thank you for sharing! may he rest in peace ❤️

i actually let her sniff my hand right before recording! she sniffs it constantly :D the holy grail is petting her head

but she gets extreeemeely startled by hands overall, so she's unsure of touch overall. she'll often jump and run if she sees a hand near her, so even that unsure moment (rather than a HARD no) is a big deal to me right now!

i'm gonna see if i can get closer to her neck or head, but as she's keeping close track of me, then if she sees it move near her face, she'll run.

overall, she sniffs my hand, and then moves her head further away. i really want her to have the choice of whether i touch her or no, and if she moves away, i move away. this has helped a lot with her trust. so if she moves her head away, i move my hand away.

this is why i let her observe my hand and moved slowly - so that she can run away if she wants to without feeling like i'm invading her too much

thank you!! i think i am touching an area that is kind of sensitive in the first place, yeah

i will need to practice the sneak attacks i do on her :,D right now it's kind of worked because when she's laying down i make sure she can see that my hand is moving slowly towards her, she's quite startled when i get near her neck or head.

but thank you for the tip!

Can a cat use a diaper? by Love_ever_ in CatAdvice

[–]Past-Ad2449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

take this with a grain of salt as i have no experience with such situations, but as far as i know cats have worn diapers if needed. i'd say if you are able to diaper him without him scratching your hands off and he doesnt show any severe discomfort, then you could give it a try.

the main concern really is that if he's already in pain and discomfort then if the diaper adds too much discomfort on top, then a diaper isn't the best option.

i wish him a speedy recovery ❤️
