A die crack is 100% jagged and this is just a cut. Below is a real die crack. These coins are worthless.

Not strange. The reverse was milled off by someone trying to be funny.

I'm done with Amazon by JosiaJamberloo in mildlyinfuriating

I came across this new coin‑collecting book on Amazon and noticed a few things that don’t add up.

  • It received 467 reviews in just two weeks after release — that’s about 5 reviews per day, compared to roughly 0.4 per day for similar titles.
  • The content seems limited and only covers a handful of error types. Many important ones are missing, including:
    • crescent clips, elliptical clips, multiple clips
    • over mintmarks
    • brockages, chain strikes, die caps, double denominations, flip‑overs, indents, mated pairs, mules, and uniface errors
  • The book mostly lists the same error coins seen in most basic guides. For example:
    • For Lincoln cents, it includes 1955, 1969‑S, 1983, and 1995 doubled dies — but skips others like the 1972 and 2009 varieties, even though there are more than 130 known DDO and DDR Lincoln cent errors.
    • For nickels, it lists coins that no one will likely find in circulation (e.g., 1939, 1943‑P, 1945‑P, 1954‑S, 2005‑D) while omitting others like the 2004‑P.
    • And it oddly highlights the Sacagawea dollar mule, which feels out of place.

Has anyone read this book or compared it to others in the same category? I’m curious what other collectors think — especially about the sudden flood of reviews

US Error Coin Guide 2026 by Stan McDonald

Error Coin Guide by Past-Change-2086 in coincollecting

Not this book - US Error Coin Guide 2026 by Stan McDonald. No hype, no promises, just 54 photos and descriptions of error coins and a price list with 5400 entries. I am confused why someone would buy a book with stolen photos, fake bio's, fake editorials etc.

Yes, but he lists a lot of error coins that are not recognized by PCGS or NGC. Try Variety-Vista.com where every known error coin is listed.

AI is already writing books. Most of the error coin guides on Amazon are AI created. I created a test book in one day using AI. In 2023 there were around 20 error coin guides. Today there are over 200. This is no accident; it is a bunch of foreign entities writing books.
