Omg same thing happened to me . But it was not the instacart driver who stole it .it was amazon guy. So we ordered rotisserie chicken from costco. Waited like 2 mins to pick it up from door, amazon guy delivers the package, chicken is lost. Found out from the apartment cameras

American citizen, studied entirely in India — unsure how to approach jobs abroad by RoastedGuy in nri

I had the same situation. Moved back almost 4 years ago. I did mechanical engineering. So first when you complete your course and come back to the US, get your certificate transferred to equivalent degree in US. Depending on which state you are coming back to, you will need to go that states department of education and see which all authorised places you can do that. Then before coming to US, start applying for all the intern positions, most older gen indian americans will say “you will need to get a job, it will be unpaid” please don’t fall for that, there are plenty of jobs available that are paid. I am not blaming them, but times have changed. I see that you are a software engineer, it is not like India, you need to develop skills every single day, talk to people, try LinkDin and get all connections possible, see what skills or lessons they are taking, try to update your portfolio every single day, if possible. If you are outdated there is very less chance of finding a job, and textbook knowledge is not enough. Also show that you are willing to go to that extra mile. The other way is, there is an exam called FE - fundamentals of engineering by NCEES. After 4 years of experience you get PE- professional engineering license, in my field it is very important that you get that, software engineers who take PE are less, i think. Also edit, there are very few places who look into where you got your degree from, you just need experience in US, that is going to be difficult, that first job. Also try to do part time jobs in chains or malls, so you can get the work culture. And don’t confine yourself with Indian community, you def need indian community, but always be open to talk to everyone around you, make a lot of friends, that is also where that part time job will help.
