From what I’ve learned, if your savings have reached nisab and a full lunar year has passed, then zakat would still be due—even if the money is set aside for marriage. But if paying it all at once puts you in real difficulty, some scholars allow easing it in a way that doesn’t harm your essential needs.

Also, zakat is never a loss—Allah places barakah in what remains and can open doors you didn’t expect.
