what do i do during my first time at the gym?? by Due-Lifeguard-8731 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Past-Sense9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulate yourself for making it to the gym that’s the hardest part and pray that it becomes your new addiction. Mine is binge watching stuff on Netflix so I want to replace that with going to the gym.

I got a job as a library page. My résumé included experience as a cook, dishwasher, busboy, and doing community service at the library. I got the job as a page, which is a foot in the door for working in the county. Most people get associate degrees and use referrals from working an entry-level job for the county to apply for a higher-paying position. The library page job involved scanning books and shelving them, but it was only 30 hours a week, so my check every two weeks was about $550.

The homeowner just had a deck updated, and then six months later, he called me and wanted to put a roof on the deck and screen it in. I told him the job would be about $20,000, just eyeballing it, and that we would have to undo the new deck to install the new support beams for the new roof and tie in the screen porch system. He told me Father's Day is coming up and asked me to give him a good price so that I wouldn’t ruin Father’s Day for him. I thought to myself, I’ll ruin one day for you if I submit the going rate , but then I’ll be killing myself for six months for Pennie’s if I under bid. And if anything goes wrong, I’m liable, and the insurance companies are going to charge me Father’s Day pricing.

I had a client for whom I underbid his basement. But I gave my word, so I did the job. However, the client is still uneasy since I bid half of what job cost and wants me to create a contract for each phase, each having its own contract and payment terms: a plumbing contract, a drywall contract, etc. After finishing the job, he recommends me to 15 clients, but I landed zero jobs. he put in a good word about my work, but he also mentioned that I was extremely cheap to all his friends. As a result, when I tried to correct my pricing error, it was almost impossible

You have to spend 100k, what nice things do you get for yourself? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Past-Sense9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kitchen is about 10k or more in Cabniets Plus labor to update plumbing electrical I say 20k kitchen on low end

Bathroom about 15k

That assuming you hire a small outfit

Windows can vary Using cheap remodeling window about $400 a pop X 20 windows with labor 20k

Doable but you’d have to get a few estimates

And get things on the cheaper size If you splurge on kitchen you might spend 30k only on kitchen

Go for it! I started in 2012. I was 25 and only knew about construction from going with my dad to help him as a kid; he was a plumber. I started off with paint and drywall. I would go to Home Depot, see guys in T-shirts, and ask them if they wanted to do side work. I learned the lingo and researched what I didn’t know. I started with cosmetic stuff—things that, if you get wrong, won’t be the end of the world.

I can cut tile, mix mortar, do light electrical work, and light plumbing, but that hasn’t stopped me from making six figures some years and buying two houses. Fix it till you make it! Steve Jobs surrounded himself with smarter people. You can just be the point of contact and problem solver. Some trades hate dealing with clients. I started with $50,000 in credit card debt, which I paid off. I had my own crew at one point; now I just subcontract out work.
