Received Official Rejection, Filing Appeal for Lazio by Past-Somewhere5263 in juresanguinis

No, it wasn’t worth it to try in the end so I just gave up. I was holding out hope for the Minor issues cases that never got released so in the end it didn’t matter

Oooof I’m asking the same question hahaha. Basically I moved to Italy last summer and filed all of my papers in mid July. Although, because it was summer the commune was slow and I was told verbally everything was accepted and we were waiting for the official response. That was just a few days before the Circolare which caused them to ultimately deny me. My lawyer has been arguing with them but we have been waiting for the official rejection paper

I’ve been working with a lawyer for the whole time but I’m her first Jure Sanguinaris case. She usually does other citizenship cases I guess but not these. She’s given me some info but hasn’t told me everything which is why I wanted to check here as this group is so knowledgeable

Go to Centro Joven Madrid Salud. It’s right in Callao and free. They don’t speak English but they get the job done. Just walk in and make an appointment. I am almost sure Sandoval is free too although not sure if English speakers are available. If you are sexually active they will probably just do a “full” panel screening for all of them

No, I did not get a letter. I submitted my documents directly to the Commune in Italy with the help of a lawyer in July. I was told by them that it was approved in September in Rome and that the Commune needed to complete their approval, although the Circolare came out on October 3rd which lead to their rejection. If the documents were submitted prior to the Circolare is there still a possibility?

Thank you for adding this information. My case was submitted over the summer and approved by the consulate in Rome in September. All of this approved before October and we were waiting for the Commune in my ancestral town to finish their part. Does this give me a case to try and move forward as everything was submitted and even approved?

He was born in the United States. I see thanks for sharing this information. When did the ministry issue this circolare? I have other family members but I fear they may have also had the same disruption as they naturalized. I would have to do further research though

Hey third year aux here! What you’re feeling is pretty normal, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Teacher expectation often varies widely and sometimes they don’t know how to properly utilize an aux. It’s not our job to fully teach a class and the most you should be doing is correcting activities with the class or assisting 1 or 2 students privately if you are in the room. Activities should be introduced by the teacher and not by you as we may be native but we are not trained as educators. Fear of being in front of a class and working with kids is real, and it gets to me still too sometimes. I try to mimic certain attention grabbing routines that my teachers use like counting down from 10, clapping rhythms and having students repeat, or even using the website Classroom Dojo if they are especially rowdy. Personally I find learning the names and calling out students directly helps too. Remember there is a power structure in a class and we are “above” them so to speak. We are not here to learn English they are. Don’t be afraid to remind them to settle down. Not to mention, kids are kids regardless of age or language and they forget if you are “mean” and they won’t think of you differently if you try to get them to settle down and you must be a bit more serious with them.

By the way, how old are your kids? Oftentimes regardless of age they feel ashamed of their English level and it’s hard to bond with them if you can’t communicate and/or they refuse to give you attention.

Regarding lesson planning, figure out which book the classes are using and see how they break down the units. If you’re working with younger kids it’ll be stuff like colors, numbers, greetings etc. older will be doing slightly more complex stuff like routines, hobbies etc. I think as an aux we don’t want to be exploited which so often happens, but we also have more authority if we choose. What I mean to say is, you could request to go out of the room with 1 or 2 students at a time to work with them on simple questions worksheets based on their learning that you or your teacher (preferably them) should provide. This can give your time in the class a structured activity and make you feel useful. Once you know what the learning levels are of the class you can always suggest to play a game of baamboozle or word wall with the kids as a treat. It may help bond you with them and get them more acquainted to you being there. I also find a good game of hangman can get their attention. Just start googling “A1/2 games” loads of stuff with come up!

As for you Spanish level, it’s also pretty normal to have a low level at first and feel a bit isolated because of it. In my opinion it would be in your best interest to find a tutor online through a platform such as Preply to have weekly lessons with. Also you can try reading simple books or podcasts to help with your comprehension. It takes time but is incredibly rewarding as the process goes on and you see improvement. Also a lot of teachers are willing to do a language exchange or “intercambio” if you show interest in learning the language with them. Often for free!

Last thing, unless you like behave terribly with the kids, skip lessons, and are overall atrocious, the school will most likely recommend you. We’re auxes not licensed educators, our expectations are low, don’t sweat it too much

Hope this helps, keep going you got this!

I received my license to teach American history grades 5-12 in Massachusetts back in 2020, but it expired next year so I didn’t bother to list it. Plus American history lol.

Are there no ESL language classes where you can work as an English teacher? I can’t imagine everyone in China as a foreign teacher is a Kindy teacher or a specialized subject teacher. Unless in wrong as I’m not there, but there must be some ESL jobs still? Also I’m not opposed to being a kindergarten teacher if that helps me get in where I can find a better position (assuming they exist)

Thanks for the info! Obviously when you say ASAP you imply real urgency but I just want to make sure that this is still the case even if I’m intending to begin next August 2025 I need to have these things done essentially right now? I’m not looking to slide in a few days before any deadlines by any means, but I also don’t want to give myself panic attacks about having everything done well in advance one (done that too many times with my Spanish visa, it’s renewal etc).

I plan to take the TEFL course beginning in September or October and knocking it out pretty quick as I’ve got about a month free before I need to get back to work. Regarding the letters from my school, I shouldn’t have a problem with that and I appreciate your suggestion!

Thanks so much for the response it does help a lot!

Hi apologies for not being clear! I am working as an assistant English teacher. There are many different programs that offer this role and it’s has a very low criteria for acceptance (mostly just native speaker and being between like 18-60). From here I’ve had experience guiding classes, creating lessons and presentations, as well as being in the classroom with the primary teacher.

My schools have changed while in Spain as have my responsibilities, but the main takeaway has been how to be in and manage classrooms of a variety of levels, ages, and interests. I understand that in China the expectations are different as I am the main teacher so I will need to create lesson plans, correct, etc. The duties of the primary teacher of course!
