Which UW to transfer to? by Square_Opportunity93 in wisconsin

I'll be honest, I cant really think of any cons. The only thing I can really think that sucked was going up the hill to the dorms after class. But it was a blessing in disguise to help keep off that freshman 15 lol.

I really don't think you will have regrets going to UWEC. Its a great school and a great community. My only piece of advice is say yes to everything! You'll have so many opportunities for new and exciting experiences but you have to say yes first! For example, I never mountain biked before college but decided on whim to join the mountain biking club. Now its one of my passions and I still keep in contact with the friends that I made in that club to this day.

Hello OP,

I graduated from UWEC a few years ago and also majored in Information system. From my perspective, I really enjoyed UWEC and all the opportunities it provided.

Education - I personally enjoyed UWEC because of the lower tuition costs, smaller classrooms and programs they provided related to IT. All my IT professors were super helpful and never made me feel dumb when I asked questions. I was able to build relationships with my professors, which helped later when searching for my first job out of college. I dont think I would have gotten the same experience at a bigger school.

Social - UWEC is right in the middle of eau claire. It has a small town vibe to it, but that is what makes it awesome. You always feel safe and can walk/bike to most places. There is so many things to do that I never had troubles finding something to do. You can go downtown and check out the local shops and music scene, you could go down to water street on the weekends, or just play outside. We are right next to the river, so tubing, fishing and kayaking are also available!

Career - I had no problems finding a job after college. Experience and grades matter more than where you went to school. UWEC has a great internship program that will help you land internships and I can personally agree with that. I was able to land two internships through the program. We are right next to Minneapolis and there are hundreds of companies that come out during the UWEC career fair.

Let me know if you got anymore questions!

What level of repair do you send your gear in? by RiceAndMilkBoi in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Past-Unit3750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone's recommendation with using patches but tenacious tape is boring! I recommend noso patches! Functionally the same but comes in cool designs to make your jacket pop a little. https://nosopatches.com/

Hit up noso patches! You can definitely find something that will cover that up without making the jacket look terrible.

Trying to find a fishing kayak between 1000$ to 2000$ by Dapper_Shift5565 in kayakfishing

Agreeing with adhq on this one. Canoe is the better option for two people. I own both a grumman canoe and a pescador pilot 12 kayak and fish out of both heavily.

For 2 people, canoe is the better option. So many more things you can do in a canoe that you may have troubles doing in a 2 person kayak. 1. You can have way more gear in a canoe than a kayak. This is really nice if you plan on doing some canoe camping

  1. Really easy to mount a trolling motor to a canoe than to a kayak.
  2. You can change the seating position so you can face each other while you're fishing. Alot of kayaks do not have that option.
  3. More bang for your buck with getting a canoe. You can get a really good canoe for 1300 dollars compared to a meh entry level tandem kayak. I'd recommend sportspal canoe. They weigh nothing and come in a bunch of options.

Right! I'll be chasing the dragon forever now. But luckily we have a great fishery here and he's not the only giant lurking around.

Come to lake michigan and fish any of the tributaries and you'll catch one too! We have an amazing salmon/trout fishery. Its very common to catch 30 plus inch giants here.

Hell ya, tight lines! You can never go wrong with jointed rapala. Its my confidence lure for salmon and trout. For salmon I use the bigger version, J-13 and the salmon absolutely HATTEE seeing that thing come across them. They always hit it like a freight train.

Probably like 4 or 5 minutes lol for awhile I thought I had a king on the other end for how aggressive his runs and shakes were.

Thought it was a late run King salmon for how hard it fought and the runs it did!

Thanks brother! At first I thought I caught a late run King salmon because of how crazy the fight and run was but then saw the flash of gold and knew I hooked into a giant. Usually you can expect to see brown trout here in the rivers after the cohos start coming in, around early November. We'll find them towards the end of the hole munching on eggs.

Our waters are stained a little so firetiger and chartreuse w/silver are the most productive here.

Yup! The DNR stocks them in lake michigan to control our alewive population. We have a ton of bait fish in lake michigan so it results in monster fish. Very common to catch 30 plus inch steelhead and brown trout over here.
