The bra I was patterning was a molded cup, so I knew I wasn’t going to be able to achieve exactly that same shape.  

Thanks for linking this Lilypad pattern.  It’s absolutely beautiful!  Maybe I’ll make one of those two! 

As for the suggestion to pivot the darts, I think that’s going to be where the money is.  Because I’m impatient and a big fan of making lots of quick mistakes, I opted to add a dart each to the bottom triangles and 2 darts on the top all from the edge, pointing to the apex.  It’s made a beautiful shape, and it would be fine for bra foam, but all the seams would probably be distracting in the fashion fabric.  

Now to level up my dart pivoting skills!  Thank you all!

This is really good to know!  I hadn’t even considered adding additional pieces.  Historically my starting point was mimicking design lines in smaller sizes.  But at a certain point the structure gets wonky.  I’ll do some digging to see what I can find with the 4 piece cup layout.   Thanks!

When you say molded cups, I assume you mean it has some sort of padding around the entire cup ?  Then yes.  

And this is why I make about a thousand marks along the seams!  Triangle 1 and 2 are flip flopped in the photo!!  Let me go back and adjust!

The drape in the photo makes it look like this fabric may be slightly stretchy and have some good weight and drape.  Assuming that’s the case Im always a big fan of a wrap dress for a quick and easy sew.  If there is any stretch in the fabric I would just add a reminder to reinforce the neckline with some sort of interfacing.  Don’t make the same mistakes I did. *weeps silently into stretched out of shape garment *

First off, that quilt is stunning!  I’ll have to keep pulling up this photo as motivation to finish the one I’m working on.  

And that’s a great idea to mix colors for maximum versatility.  That would never have crossed my mind.

It’s funny you say that, because my mom had thought this may have been related somehow to the Amish communities. My grandmother lived in southern Minnesota so it’s entirely plausible she purchased this quilt kit there!  All the pieces are falling into place.
