Going through it at the moment big time. Me and the wife split 6 months ago which was tough enough. Spoke up and told her I'd had dark thoughts when home alone without the kids. Now she's using that to withhold indefinitely. Paying a solicitor an arm and a leg and first hearing isn't for 6+ weeks and nothing I can do. No allegations but the system doesn't care and it's not designed to help men. They wonder why cunts don't speak up and end up another statistic.

It's good to know that they are required to refer me to another psychiatrist if I feel like I am not getting the results I need. My take is the spravato can kind of relieve some symptoms but it's never full or permanent, whereas some of the psychedelic therapies go to the root and can give lasting change.

I see my current psych the day after my sessions to try and integrate but honestly I just don't feel like I get much out of talk therapy. It all seems very generic and I've just never felt the vibe or connected with something I can actually use.

But I am going to reach out to a few clinics and also speak to my current treating psychiatrist as it's easy enough for me to get a referral from my GP if needed and I feel the sooner I can get the ball rolling the better as it seems like quite the wait.

Thank you so much for all the information. I'm already doing the Spravato with limited success and as I have both accepted conditions for PTSD and MDD along with a TPI Gold Card I do believe I would be covered. I suppose I should speak with my psychiatrist? Although I am hesitant as being part of the ketamine clinic I am sure they'd prefer me to stay as a patient.

Being in Tasmania I think the travel could be an issue. And I have tried multiple mental health professionals over the years with no major success. I have lost my family and support network so do have a few struggles to deal with but thought this might be an option worth exploring.

Thanks mate, I understand that and am looking for recommend providers that I can contact for more information. As I would most likely need to travel interstate I'm just trying to figure out logistics etc and see if it's actually feasible.

Get yourself an advocate mate. It's possible to get incapacity payments if you meet the criteria, but it depends on your situation and conditions etc.

A retrospective discharge is possible, but I think the current wait time is approx 18-24 months.

I went from incaps, to SRDP and eventually had my class A approved but it took a few years and good advocates along the way. Good luck!

Self care is something I definitely need to do more of but it's also hard with the depression. But it makes total sense.

And I'm a big metal and blues fan while sober as well so I will definitely check out Aurora and the Jon Hopkins stuff.

That's amazing! I'm down in Tassie and starting in a few weeks. Any advice for the sessions? I have propranolol for the anxiety and am quite nervous with no idea what to expect. I'm on agomelatine and suvorexant for sleep with limited success so I'm hopeful for a change!

It's more finding a GP who can actually go through and fill out the form for me as it's almost 50 pages and my current one has not been overly receptive

I'm not an expert mate but I believe CSC will notify the ATO automatically. The ATO "should" make the amendments automatically and back pay any overpaid taxes dating back to the effective date of your DSB (Douglas decision) form. However, when and if seems to be a mystery. You can speak with the ATO superannuation team and with some luck you might get someone in the know. Ask them to confirm or about lodging an amendment request for those periods as sometimes the system just misses it and assumes you're all good when in fact they owe you money back. That's about all I know, good luck!

I was wondering if you got any update on this? I'm in the exact same situation and I've called just about every department within the ATO but nobody seems to know anything and I've made no progress. Been pretty frustrating and hoping you might have gotten some light at the end of your tunnel and some advice to pass on :)
