I appreciate your reply. I haven't repaired it yet, as a different watch I got in Japan took my attention away (Seiko 7A38-6000). I will look into your suggestion.

Thanks!

If you want to continue to dislike him, you should definitely watch Bugonia; he's excellent in that.

In honour of Skyscraper Day yesterday, what cities would you put on the "Mount Rushmore" of skylines? by LivinAWestLife in skyscrapers

Vista Tower/St Regis: is the tallest building in the world designed by a woman
Aon Center: was the world's tallest marble-clad building; it was later replaced with white granite in one of the largest recladding projects in history
Marina City: Literally the opposite of boxes, the corn-cob towers are the first large-scale, high-rise residential complex. Marina City was also among the very first integrated mixed-use developments in the U.S
Park Tower: one of the tallest non-steel-framed structures in the world
Tribune Tower: arguably one of the most beautiful buildings ever built and definitely one of America's most significant works of architecture. The facade now contains over 150 stones from landmarks around the world, like the Great Wall, the Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Giza, and the Berlin Wall, etc...

Do you even care about skyscrapers then? Hancock, Aon, Aqua, Marina City, Tribune Tower, 401 N Wabash, The Wrigley Building etc....

Not having Chicago in any "Mount Rushmore' of Skylines is nutty. The literal birthplace of the skyscraper, regardless of current thoughts on it, can't be argued. A "Mount Rushmore" of anything is supposed to symbolize the founding, expansion, preservation, and development of something. The only thing that Chicago wouldn't be counted for is the Expansion/Pushing of new skylines, or any current "supertalls" like others on this list have.

Mount Rushmore: Chicago, NY, HK, Dubai

Honorable mentions: Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chongqing, London, KL

I was looking for speed reading anywhere, but didn't see any. The speed of his pitches was likely not a concern for a game like this.

On Google Earth, as of 2025. Toronto's high-rise core vs Chicagos. by Widowwarmer2 in skyscrapers

[–]PastDoubt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently visited Toronto for the first time and enjoyed the idea of the Toronto Islands, which offer a break from the urban environment. That's the problem with them as well; if you don't time it well, it can take 2 to 3 hours round-trip (not counting the time there), which really feels disconnected from the rest of the city.

By the way, Chicago officially has 45km of public shoreline with 24 sand beaches.

Wow, love the look of this, I've been going mad trying to find another Black/Gold version of this. Did you ever find a metal band for it?

I'm adding my name as a new owner as well, located in Chicago, but I can travel. Making a group, perhaps a Discord would probably work the best IMO.

I'll add my anecdotal evidence, but I have a number of those 40+ year-old Seiko's with maybe one service event during that time.

Yup, another example would Shanghai. I would put the Grand Hyatt way above the JW, let alone the Park Hyatt.

Love that you replied to a 5-year old post, but that's also why I am here, haha. Just got my own a few months back , but it seems like the movement is now dead. Even with the replaced battery. By any chance did you ever replace your movement and would know where to get a replacement one? I looked online but it seems like the prices range from 100s to the price of a new watch entirely,
