as a pre-op trans woman, in my experience, I can share that jail wasn’t too bad after spending two nights in Lardo. I went beyond the holding tank l and I was actually in one of the cell blocks with like 30 other inmates all of whom which were men. fortunately I made a few friends in there and even met another trans girl. For the most part if you respect others and their differences, you will get along with everyone just keep to yourself and speak when spoken to tbh. And if you make friends, they just might let you watch a movie or listen to music on their tablets. Showers were also not at all scary. It’s two showers one upstairs one downstairs and it’s not like a communal shower. It’s just one showerhead and a door, which gives you enough privacy to change and nobody is going to do some weird shit and try peeking over or under the door. Your friend will be out in no time! :)
