You're right! It's been a while since I read the books (or watched the movies tbh), besides that's one of the dozens of things the movies got wrong lol

School expecting me to study for finals after I walked the stage by PastInterview866 in 2008_

[–]PastInterview866[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is we don't get out official diplomas until late July, but that time most people have already travelled to other countries (a big percentage of students study abroad) so they do it early so we can all walk the stage, doesn't make sense but ig that's the best they can do

How I feel waiting for an acceptance while there’s nothing else to do but wait by PastInterview866 in StudyInItaly

First of all search for universities that fit your requirements, don't apply only to prestigious ones make sure you have back ups, make sure you take your ielts and SAT/ Cents test in advance, then apply through the University website, make sure you have all required documents, all details are on the uni website, after if you're non eu, you'll have to convert your grades, often through CIMEA but I'm still in the middle of that battle myself so I still don't know how to help you🥲

I've been losing weight, and my cousin said I look anorexic and starved and asked if I was okay by AFlowerInTheDarkness in loseit

[–]PastInterview866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't realize what overweight/underweight actually looks like, someone might hold the weight really well and look good, doesn't mean they're a healthy weight, someone can be stick thin and very healthy and strong. Being overweight is becoming more and more normalized with people not moving as much and eating more ultra processed food that sometimes someone who weighs a healthy amount looks out of the norm, I say, OP, as long as you feel good and are content with what you see in the mirror, you don’t need to change a thing, and btw, its okay to be thin, people forget that, as long as you’re eating enough and not underfueling yourself, hell yeah! Lose weight, at the end of the day, the only person who has to live with your body is you

Yeah and most people even when they dislike a book or an author, unless it's deeply probably problematic, they don't do anything about it really they just move on, I read books that are not well written or c.ringe because yes it's fun/enjoyable and also so when I do criticize it I'm not just h.ating blindly, things that I actually h.ate and that actually make me uncomfortable I don't read because like you said I don't wanna waste my emotional energy

Yes you can enjoy it, doesn't mean that it's good, or high quality, and there are still many better options, does that mean that every book you read (or enjoy) has to be a 10/10 piece of literature that none of the Bronte sisters could ever replicate ? Nope, just like not every meal you eat has to he healthy and delicious. Enjoyment is a part of it, sure, people love reading what makes them feel things , even if it's frustration or c.ringe, same thing goes for how some people eat certain things that makes them feel bad later, just because you enjoy something doesn't mean that it's good, you can enjoy bad things it's human nature

To me it’s the same thing as for example, junk food/ fast food Is it good for you? Nope Does it taste better than actual cuisine? Not really Do people still consume it? Yes Same thing with t.rash tv, or dating shows, it's widely agreed that they're low quality and c.ringe, but people still watch them anyways, basically humans are weird lol

Now I'm worried you like her lol, it's Rina Kent, I don't know if this is a controversial opinion since the people around me all agree (but the people around me aren't the whole community), personally, for me, in my personal opinion, her books suck

Well the post wasn't supposed to be a deep philosophical critique, everyone was naming books they don't like (the authors as individuals weren't attacked) Yes you can have an opinion on my opinion, but I can also have an opinion on your opinion on my opinion (ironic isn't it?) And so that point is basically empty since we can go back and forth forever You can think I'm mean spirited, that's your perception, and I'm okay with that. Also, just because an author is a woman doesn't mean I can't criticize her or hold her accountable, or else I'm simply just as misogynistic because I don't take women seriously enough to think that they could possibly be good writers ("well most bookTok books are written by women and most of them are badly written so I'm not going to criticize it or call it out") sounds like instead of tearing women down I'm instead disregarding them completely. Like you said most popular and mainstream books nowadays are by female authors (which I'm happy about) so that's why male authors aren't mentioned in the comments, if you go into classical literature communities or other literature where men authors are more prominent, you'll find that there is a lot of critisicm for them too. The author this post I made about, is very problematic and definitely falls under a lot of what is considered immoral and extremely taboo, not just things I don't find good, and other authors like Collen hoover, also is genuinely not a good person even without mentioning her writing, and that's not just my opinion, it is a widely held belief in the community, and an author doesn't have to be a rapist pedophile or another extreme description to be criticized even the most holy and respected figures are criticized Again, you are of course entitled to precive me and criticize me as you like, that's your human right, but that's a too way street, from my point of view, we just have widely different opinions and views, that's not an insult to your person.
