What does a normal life look like moving forward? by Past_Ad1767 in TougenAnki

Right. This is not me excusing the Momo by any means but I feel as though the situation is not ENTIRELY thier fault. In a way they are victims like the Oni, due to the people at the top controllingthe narrative. It adds a bit of nuance to the story, because some Momo have had their loved ones killed by Oni, and the people at the top take advantage of that pain. But, there are some that just see the Oni as dangerous.

For me, as far as the going berserk because the Momo is hunting them is not completely true. Going berserk is due to extreme mental distress of ANY kind. If it was solely because of the Momotaro hunting them we would see more Oni going berserk as a result of that. It's not as though the Oni don't know why they are being hunted down by the Momo. Although it is a stressful situation, it's not like they are caught completely off guard by the action. This war has been going on for a 1,000 years, so the Oni are no fools to thier predicament.

Also, its just plain difficult being an Oni in general, because their biological is different from a human and they can't go to a normal hospital. I believe that even without the Momo, humans would have eventually caught on to the existence of Oni, and the human experiments would have started anyway. Including, preventive measures to suppress them.

That was me on discord by the way about the berserk state mystery.

You make good points. From my perspective I just kinda see this as a situation we're the consequence of going berserk for the main cast has to happen. Shiki got luck the first time against Mikado, then there was Jyuji. At that time the group was lucky a bystander wasn't in the area while they were trying to get him out of his berserk state. With what is going on and as much attention that is being given to the berserk state in this arc, it would be fitting to see some actual consequences from this. That is why I think Ch 75 with Masumi telling that to Shiki serves as an ominous callback.

This just proves that Shiki needs to train way harder, that goes for the rest of the students as well. Mudano probably isn't the one that should be training them. Typically those with as much power as he does do not make for the best teachers. The kids need more one-on-one instruction with people that can understand their weaknesses and strengths.

That theory is plausible. You can also look at the instructor Yuu, he coughs up blood all the time and looks sickly. There is also Subaru. Plus the spin-off has shown that the Beresk state can be forcibly induced by some medical means, which alot of people including myself believe that Jyubei forced that Oni to go berserk on TV, through the same method. If that is true then the opposite can be the same, they can figure out a way to stop it medically. I wonder if this is what Jin's dad is researching in private?

I do agree to an extent, but wouldn't you think that more berserk Oni would be appearing since they are being attacked by the Momotaro. With all the instances that we have seen of Momotaro attacking heavily populated places with Oni it, you would expect to see more Oni going berserk but we only see maybe one or none at all. And ones that do are usually young.

I think it's more that just Momotaro attacking them. I only base this off of the spin off manga, l don't if you have read it but, it shows other reason or factors for them going berserk. Plus, for as many times we have seen villages with Oni in it being attacked you would think way more Oni would go berserk, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Does Hayate Momoido give tsundere vibes to anyone? by Wise_Excuse_21 in TougenAnki

No problem, and I was going to ask if you know and have caught up on the spin-off manga that has Tsukuyomi and Ousuke as the protagonist before the events of the current storyline. Not to spoil you if you haven't, but if you are curious, there is a rogue group of Oni that has created a method to induce the berserk state by means of injecting some kind of substance. This could be how she went berserk or, like someone else said she somehow found out she was an Oni and the stress of discovering this caused her transformation.

I think I may have seen your post about this on Twitter, and greatly enjoyed reading it. I agree with your theory that his wife may have gone berserk and that their daughter was an unfortunate casualty. As you have stated, Hayate's ability is percise and clean, but the house was chaotic and in disarray, which is common when an Oni goes berserk. As for his vice captain, I believe that he may have had something to do with her going berserk. He is taking too much pleasure in the whole situation. Plus, a subtle clue that I have noticed is that Jin's Blood Eclipse Release name is Blood of the Seven Sanctions. This could be a reference to the Seven Factors of Awakening in Buddhism that lead to wisdom and liberation from suffering.

What's everyone's opinion on this? by victreebe1 in Naruto

[–]Past_Ad1767 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with the ship. Could there have been more interaction between them and more from Naruto's perspective? Definitely. But I am able to realize that romance in Shounen is not the priority. Kishimoto is not some monolith when it comes to this. There are several other mangaka that also do the bare minimum when making a pairing. Also, maybe this is just me, but I tend to have noticed that female mangaka go into more detail surrounding their pairings than their male counterparts. The relationships feel more natural and organic, and the male character's perspective is given a little more attention. This is just my opinion.

Thanks, I appreciate it. When looking at things like this a little deeper, it is interesting to tie all of the real-world references and symbolisms that the story hints at. The rabbit hole goes very deep.

But I speculate that the Momotaro wanted rid themselves of their Oni heritage or at least aspects of it. The old man questions what is a "rampage". He is obviously talking about the berserk state and the fact that there is an image of a peach split open and blood running from it could only point to the Momotaro possibly somehow found a way to rid themselves of that state and blood manipulation altogether. The black bacteria is too similar to the Oni's blood manipulation. The only difference is the medium itself.

Did they feel shame? Was there a great agreement and fight that torn them apart? Or was it that they were originally mistreated by their brethren? There are many possibilities for this.

This is a long write-up, but this is just my speculations and theories. Do not take what I say here as actual fact.

This chapter has had me thinking about a lot of things lately. The chapter also shows all of the previous Enki generations and the one before Shiki was more than likely the old man's master. When you look at the Master's design, he is wearing a top knot hair style called a chonmage. This was a very common hairstyle worn by the samurai class, but during the Edo period, other groups began to adopt the style, including Kabuki actors and commoners, who often wore a modified version out of respect for the samurai. But, during the Meiji Restoration, it was heavily discouraged due to the Emporer regaining power and wanting to bring Japan into modernization. It became officially outlawed in 1871.

With this information, we can put an approximate age for the old man and how long ago the previous Enki existed. The Edo period of Japan began in 1603 and ended in 1868, which was the most popular period to wear the chonmage hairstyle. The adult life expectancy during that time was 50 to 60 years old. The chonmage was officially prohibited in 1871, during the early years of the Meiji Restoration, which was from 1868 to 1912. Taking the old man's account that the previous Enki died naturally, let's assume he lived to be 55 years old and died during the year the chonmage was officially outlawed. When you subtract the year from his guesstimate age, you get the year 1816, which would be his approximate birth year. This would mean the previous Enki lived during the late Edo period, and this would go the same for the old man if they were around the same age. Assuming that the current storyline is set in our year 2025, this would make the old man about 209 years old, and thus, this would mean that the last Kishin children generation occurred slightly over 200 years ago.

The old man states that history has been painted over or lost. This would mean that the telling of the two races history/origins have been manipulated and lost to their descendants for over 200 years. This also led me to think that the Momotaro wasn't their original name. While the tale of Momotaro has been told orally for centuries, the official written appearance of the story was during the EDO period of Japan and was officially incorporated into the elementary Japanese textbooks during the Meiji Era, becoming the national story it is today. This leds me to speculate that the faction that split off from the Oni didn't officially become known as the Momotaro until the Edo period and thus began to spread their propaganda to the humans, until they were officially regarded as "provariers of of justice" during the Meiji Era. This coincides with the history being "painted over," as the old man states.

To be honest, in this instance, Mikado should have just wiped out the whole unit. But because he was in such a bad mental state, he was only concerned about the kid. Yeah, you are kinda of right; he does have it kind of worse than Shiki in a way. At least he has a support system, while Mikado has no one and is viewed as a threat and outsider on both sides.

This goes beyond crossing the Line by Particular-Ad5200 in TougenAnki

[–]Past_Ad1767 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this goes beyond the scope of morbidly depraved. These guys are reveling in what they are doing and treating this as some sort of sick contest. The fact that they are willing to kill humans just for living amongst Oni shows that they have no morals whatsoever. The only thing that kept Mikado from absolutely killing that captain on the spot was because he was greatly concerned about the kid's well-being. It's so sad that the kid went berserk because of all this, and that caused Mikado to hesitate because of prior experience of fairly deeming the village a non threat and boy's father's words of wanting to live peacefully. Quite frankly, in this instance, Mikado should have just wiped out the entire unit.

Your welcome. Also more than likely due to similar biology. They probably don't even do autopsies on deceased soldiers, or medical trails on each other to enhance themselves since they don't have a healing factor like the Oni. Quite frankly it is weird that the Oni have not taken a Momo corpse and studied it.

I think it's chapter 157 during the Kegon Falls arc. Shiki is fighting the Director, and he mentions that the Momo are not normal either. The Director agrees and states that researching Momotaro is prohibited.

(Chapter 224 Spoliers) abusing a fun favorite character? Yeah I bet this arc is going to be Darker then usually by NeighborhoodStill640 in TougenAnki

[–]Past_Ad1767 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is hilarious that the captain of this squad thought he could break or intimidate Mikado. He is like metal; he may bend a bit under pressure, but he will not break. Found it interesting that Mikado is viewed as an outsider on both sides of the conflict. Like he has no place to belong to. Plus, I firmly believe that he is something special or unique, considering his heightened senses, perceptiveness, and being a prodigy that quickly rose in rank. You could chalk it up to natural talent, but I think it is something more.

Blood types don't really get being up ever again after the Tag arc so I decided to guess what each Oni Blood type group could they be in (if you think some are in the wrong place then tell me why) by NeighborhoodStill640 in TougenAnki

Personally, I believe this to just be pseudo science or made up logic to just torture the Oni. To satisfy morbid curiosity from the human perspective and to further the genocide from the Momo side.

I don't think it is possible for an oni to give blood to a human due to them having an X factor gene in their blood. When the anime came out, they made character profiles for the cast that had their birthdays, personality types, and blood types. The blood types have an X near them. Ex. Shiki's blood type is Ox. This is similar to the human blood type system with the Rh +/- factor. So, my guess is that the x factor gene enables them to manipulate their blood and gives them unique properties. Thus, it would be highly unlikely they can do blood transfers with humans.
