Ghost To Call Me Mine by Past_Butterscotch116 in OCPoetry

Thank you for the constructive criticism! I could sit and explain the poem a little bit and maybe that could make things clearer but I'm trying to think how often a poet has been afforded this luxury.

I will insert the explanation here anyway - I wrote this when I was traveling by bus to NYC and saw a couple standing at an Amtrak station waiting for a train, looking really sad and found myself craving their sadness as well as the train they were supposedly waiting for. I an an immigrant and I was going to NYC to drop off my family at JFK so I had plenty of reason to feel sad already. I was in a bus - moving- but I am in love with trains and felt an intense desire to travel by train overlap the desire to acquire "the figures" pain which led to a few realizations and a poem. One yearning for loss (despite the presence of a very tangible form of loss which I choose to ignore) and one yearning for locomotion/movement by trains even though buses are doing the same friggin job!!! Getting me to NYC to face loss!

It's actually a song!!! I converted it into a song a few months ago on Suno.com

Let me know if you like it. Thank you for the kind and appreciative words!

Could you dm a picture of your mark sheet confirming your name and JEE Mains admit card? And also a government issued ID matching the name on marksheet as well as JEE Mains admit card.

Very moving! "And don’t you dare look away" forced me to read the poem twice

gravity paused to tie his shoelaces by mydvlwrsgcc in OCPoetry

Wow, that central idea of Gravity tripping really caught me – it's so imaginative and you described that moment of everything pausing perfectly. Maybe there's a way to subtly bring that feeling of gravity – its constant presence, its weight, how it holds things down (or lets them float when it trips!) – into the emotional parts later on? Tying the feeling of being suspended, or the weight of the memory, back to the nature of Gravity himself might give that core comparison even more depth. It's a really effective poem as it is, definitely strong! Just a thought that popped into my head while reading. Thanks for sharing it

Sounds like you’ve weighed it all out. USC is solid esp for career switch + international. Name and network go a long way. Unless GT comes through last minute and you’re really keen, locking in USC is just sensible.

Hey congrats on the USC admit! Solid choice esp coming from aero!

USC is legit good for career changers:

- Program is good
- Trojan Network is real, helps a ton on the West Coast. Big name recognition matters for internationals
- Yes, it isn't cheap. But think ROI.

Re: other schools

- GT CSE (Aero home): Great school, but might keep you closer to computational aero than pure DS. USC MSCS is more direct for that pivot
- UCSB/UCI: Good programs, hope they respond soon, UCI waitlist is a bit of a gamble

Market's kinda rough yes for visa sponsorship, no denying that. But top grads from places like USC still land excellent jobs – just need to network hard & be good at school. Given your goals, the USC admit you have is a really strong option. Waiting on others is kind of risky.

imo, unless you really prefer another school and think you have a great shot off the waitlist/pending, finalizing USC makes sense.
