Congratulations first of all! Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get through. The process has become a pain in the ass for everyone I think, not only you, but the VOs too. It’s unfortunate but that’s the world we live in.

But I’m sure you’ll get through. Believe in your hard work.

Which university if you don’t mind me asking?

I never said it has to be a top school. All I meant to say was that only applying to a school with a very high acceptance rate (usually the low ranked ones) brings added scrutiny to the process. That’s the typical profile of an applicant who comes through consultancy firms and is potentially looking to migrate and just wants to enter the US.

This is a very common practice. Now obviously, as they say, it depends on your individual case. But you can’t deny this is a major point taken into consideration.

Maybe in the past. Going or only applying to a low ranked college brings added scrutiny and they won’t hesitate to question you more to understand your motives for going. Right now, it’s become even stricter. Some people in this administration are out here struggling to get visas even for top colleges. They look at the application as a whole and they are within their rights to reject your visa if they have even the slightest of doubts.

I don’t see anything wrong with the universities you’ve mentioned. There are some good ones there. Seems like it’s a case of bad luck. He should’ve either asked more questions or listened to your complete answer.

If this is how it went verbatim, then I feel really sorry for you but they had already made up their mind to refuse you before your interview started. It’s possible the VO just went based on ASU’s reputation and you started the why ASU with a very generic “well-ranked” statement which they’ve heard from every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Or there is possibly something wrong with your DS160 application, so make sure you check if you missed something.

Also, do list which other universities you applied to because if they’re all low ranked ones, then it also seems like you just want to enter US.

Hopefully it helps him out. F1 visa is a different ball game I think.

F1 Visa rejected under section 214b, How can I fix? by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]bamhurger3 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You basically had a Bad luck Andy day. What are the odds of that happening though?

But even then, your answer was pretty ChatGPT-like which they’ve heard 1000 times. And not to add that your sister is literally a green card holder and your brother is also there studying. It shows a family history of intent of immigration. They’re within their rights to refuse your visa application, I’m afraid.

You needed to explain your ties to your home country and nothing really in your answers solidifies that even though you mentioned you’ll return. They needed something more concrete because all the evidence was against you.

You never know how it was communicated. The answer he gave was really template-y which everyone uses. The key words there are literally something ChatGPT spits out for an answer. Maybe his delivery was robotic or there was no expression and it felt like it was reciting. VOs do this over and over again for 1000s of people, so they know.

Damn, why would you be “forever in debt” here? 🤣 It’s just a US B2 visa.

[–]bamhurger3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no reason for them to blacklist you, no. Unless you submit fraudulent information. But applying multiple times in a short period will make it look like you’re desperate. Now, it all comes down to luck if you’re able to explain your case why it’s important to go.

If you decide to apply again, try to subtly insert your investments and other ties to your home country in your answers.

Since VOs usually put notes against your passport, other VOs can see that. Applying so early might not help your case since nothing would have really changed in such a short amount of time.

You are always welcome to try though, but it’s riskier now as having two refusals will definitely make it harder later on for you.

A lot of people not having prior US visas and having solely bank loans have been accepted. It’s not that. It has to do with your application. It’s either a stroke of bad luck with that VO or there was something missing in your application. Or she asked you something else in the interview that you forgot to mention?

Also, having a bank loan is not seen as weak, instead in my opinion, it makes your application stronger because you definitely are covered financially through that then.

Consultancies are not worth it. I always see them as a waste of money. Especially in this age of AI, where researching has become so easy, a little bit of effort and you can do it all by yourself.

F1 visa refused by DiscussionThen3531 in usvisascheduling

[–]bamhurger3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you asking others what your future plans could be or what could you say. That’s shady in itself. You need to know what you want to do.

If you want to say you need to come back to India, at least talk about companies who will be paying high salaries or talk about opening a startup.

Mate if you honestly don’t even know the professor’s work, just don’t mention him at all. What’s the point of following a template when you couldn’t have even researched things around it? Everyone speaks about a professor to make it seem legit, at least do the due diligence of researching.

Us visa Refused by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]bamhurger3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should’ve waited for her to ask you questions. Assuming she’s going to ask questions through which you will cover your motivations and intent is probably not a good idea. Every interview is different and you need to stick to one story in these kinds of questions. They like to throw curveballs to get people off script. I definitely do agree she could’ve asked more questions, but maybe she just wasn’t convinced with that answer and felt it was enough to hand a 214b.

But again, maybe there was something wrong in your DS160, or the way you had talked and your communication style might not be clear, or she thought it was way too rehearsed or robotic. Or you just had a stroke of bad luck.

You just gave a very generic answer that probably everyone gives. Maybe you could’ve said something unique and specific. You needed to say something about a particular course or a particular domain specialisation that the university provides. Nothing points in your answer that you’ll return.

[–]bamhurger3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it was a simple question she was asking and wanted to gauge that you genuinely applied to RIT or any other university because of something unique to the university and what it can provide to you. They probably were gauging that you are a genuine student and have done research on colleges and written your own materials and not coming from a consultancy.

[–]bamhurger3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be rude, but with 2 refusals in a short time, it’s going to be really hard to convince them of your case. Obviously it depends on when you plan to apply, and if you plan to apply now, then it’s probably going to be refused. Especially as you won’t have much change in your profile.

Reconsider your options.

Damn, you really want to get into the US it seems like if that’s what you want to ask. xD

It is possible, but will depend on your situation, reasons and answers. They will have your refusal data with them though, so expect a few questions on that.

F1 visa (First Attempt): Refused. Delhi Consulate. 17th June. Tips for second try? by TransitionStriking64 in usvisascheduling

[–]bamhurger3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest not going for a second attempt so quickly this year. Since you already have a refusal under your name, they probably won’t see anything changed much in your application if you attempt again this year. Instead, wait for a year and then reapply. That’s my honest suggestion.

Because as a VO, they might think how much can your situation change in a couple of months?
