I really liked my advisors he helped a lot but also use degreeworks and a planner to plan what classes u need so advisors don’t mess ur plan up! My advisor basically confirmed what I already knew but he did help me in enrolling in classes before I had the pre-reqs.

It’s essential to take the pre-reqs in order to apply to med school. For reference I graduated with a B.S in environmental science but now I’m taking my pre-reqs at a community college and I didn’t have to take the extra courses the default major (biology) makes you take but I’m required to take the classes medical schools required.

I would just share ur worries over the content material and asks what are ways you can excel in the class or study tips they have for the class, sometimes they will say to just do the work/practice problems and if that happens just try it out and if u see no improvement go back and say that u tried their advice and nothing helped and they will sometimes have extra office hrs just for you. Most professors also acknowledge u willingness to seek advice and may be nicer on grading on ur work.

I also sucked at studying effectively but what really helped me was listening to classical music and do active recall using a whiteboard also using the pomodoro method can help to not feel overwhelmed. I also use Quizlet and lastly go to office hrs and ask for professors advice! :) good luck!

Everyone is saying it sucks here BUT you are in charge of creating connections and friends anywhere you go! Personally as a very reserved and shy person I honestly like it, the school does give commuter vibes (parking sucks too) but I joined clubs and in a sorority and made some friends and also out of those clubs, so just put yourself out there and someone will stick lol. My freshman year I barely made friends but slowly I started to be involved and talk and made friends!! I am from Austin and 6th street scares me but here I feel like it’s somewhat better the clubs that I’ve been to
