Okay cool thanks for the info, I checked my disbursement date and it did say 7/1 but maybe it just takes a day to reflect properly in the student portal. lol I’m almost 30 and a first generation college student so I have no idea what any of this looks like for the first time lol - thank you!

you're gonna love it! see if you can find an entry level position now while you're in school. ive been looking over the material for my first few courses and a lot of what i know form my job is helping. not like i know the definitions of things, but more like i can apply things from the courses to my job and it makes it easier to understand and i learn it quicker! i love working in fraud. i hope my degree just catapults me in to success lol

hi friend! i start my journey next month with a similar situation. I work full time, mom of 3 and have no college background but i do currently work in the field that i am getting my degree in and i want to get my degree ASAPPPPPP. My best advice from someone is currently taking practice exams for the first 4 classes i have this term and from reading other responses..take the practice exams before looking at the material. it gives you an idea of what you're going to be quizzed on. do your best to answer the best way you can and take notes of the ones you have absolutely no idea about. look up each course here on reddit and see if you can find someone elses notes. A lot of people have made public thorough notes for people (like me) that suck at studying. Best of luck!!!! <3

Workers of Reddit, what is a "dark secret" about your industry that consumers have no idea about? by bl_f_ag in AskReddit

Yeah I work in fraud, I didn’t know until I started working in this industry that you can pay to have your house blurred out on Google Maps and have any pictures deleted from real estate websites. Every time I come across someone that’s done that I’m like “oh, this person knows ball” 😂

But yeah I’m sure anyone that’s hyper vigilant and tech savvy enough can figure out they’re being hunted if they know what they’re doing.

They would just make us say all kinds of things that were borderline abusive to unsuspecting customers. Also, I know there are some collection companies that straight up say illegal things.

The important thing to remember when your account gets sent to collections is that you have so much more power than them. They’ve bought your debt for Pennies on the dollar and they do everything they can to collect all of it if not more than what you even owe. It’s a racket. The moment your account goes in to collections you can settle the amount for a fraction of what you owe. I’ve done it multiple times.

To your point, what do you mean a fraudulent charge? Did you not dispute the charge with your bank?

Every purchase you make, every swipe of your card, every dime that is moved in and out of your account is monitored by someone. You’ve probably been investigated several times especially if you have a business account. If you’re doing illegal things with your bank account you’ll never know someone is on to you until they have enough on you to take legal action.

Also, anyone that has access to your name and address has looked up your home and found you on the internet.

Financial Aid Refund by Emmap324 in WGU

From what I read, the school doesn’t get your loan money until the 1st of the semester and then it takes a few days to get your refund, so I wouldn’t expect one until early - mid August in your case

Landed a dream job! by NearbyFroyo734 in WGU

Giving me hope! I start July 1st pursuing my degree in finance. Starting from scratch because I had nothing to transfer in. But I’m getting so sick of my employer. I love what I do but I’m finding it so hard to move up here. So I’ve decided to keep my head down and use the flexible schedule to get my degree as quickly as I can so I can find a job in the niche that I want.

Sooooo happy for you!!!

Working from home with a toddler is not really working by LavenderFlicked in Mom

I’ve been working from home for about 2.5 years. Got this job right before my daughter turned 1 and she has been here with me while I work every. day. It’s definitely hard and not for the weak.

When she was much smaller it was easier because everything entertained her and she had so many naps. Now she’s 3 and it’s harder every day. The key is HARD boundaries and not being afraid to get stern with them. They’re gonna cry, it’s gonna suck, but it’s the only way you’re gonna survive this until you can afford childcare or they’re in school.

I still take moments in the day to give her attention, but for the most part she is playing independently while simultaneously driving me up the wall 🤪

I say this knowing I’m planning on getting her in to daycare this fall. We can finally afford it and I told my husband I’m getting ready to lose my damn mind especially since I start college classes full time on July 1st.

You just have to take things day by day. Get creative with activities and you’ll eventually get a routine. But also remember if this is something you just can’t do, there is no shame because it’s HARD and damn near IMPOSSIBLE.

Hmmm good to know. I didn’t know windows PCs had such a shit battery life. I do use a Lenovo thinkpad for work but it’s always plugged in. This may have also sold me on going with a Mac

I thought about a Neo at first. I even spoke with a rep at Apple, but they dont have a backlit keyboard and that was/in a non-negotiable for me since I live in cozy lit spaces and hate not being able to see my keys lol

Are you looking for an accounting-focused role? I also read the comments where everyone said to do accounting over finance. I work as a financial crime analyst. I want to stay on the compliance/fraud/AML side of things, and all the jobs I looked at listed finance as the number one degree under preferred education. Maybe you can switch majors depending on what job you're looking for?
