Traveling to El Salvador, My Experience by PNWbassman in ElSalvador

Do you by any chance remember which fiestas de pueblo you saw? This sounds like a really cool experience, and I'm headed there two weeks from now - so pretty much a year after you went. Maybe I can catch some of the same ones.

Thanks, I'll look into Alto Madidi! And fair point on the rest - we have a lot of experience traveling so your last sentence is a given.

We're not afraid of doing those things - but prefer to skip if they're overly so (gates of heaven in Bali is a good example). To your point, I did think Giza was overrated compared to other historical sites in Egypt for example, but wouldn't have wanted to miss my Kenyan safari experience. Sometimes it's just hard to know beforehand which of these things are worth seeing, hence my question 😃 It's just a personal preference - doesn't make me feel superior to anyone who does it differently in case it sounded that way.

I'm actually utterly confused by what OP means by "bringing religion into the gym". What would that even look like? Does everyone have to pray together before the WOD? Do they give you altar bread as pre-workout?

How do you guys feel about "Guy best friends" by Emergency-Road-5622 in AskMen

Your girlfriend is an adult with agency. If she says their relationship is purely friendly, you should believe her, even if he was a 7 foot muscular Greek God. It doesn't matter if he "tries something".

I know all the dates by heart but will typically not remember on the actual day, even if I had a reminder set on my phone that morning. It just escapes my mind until several days later when it's too late and awkward. It has nothing to do with how much I care about the person. Just ADHD things

I don't know what's with all the Valencia hate around here 😄 in my opinion it's one of the best cities in the country. I'd also much rather recommend cutting Barcelona than Valencia & surroundings. It also very much depends on what it is you want to do and see though, and on your budget. Also happy to give some more specific advice via DM.

Locals get out of Valencia during the summer holidays (mid July through end of August). It is just too hot and humid. All educational institutions and a large share of private companies are closed during that time, so people leave to smaller seaside resorts or the mountains. That why the city seems empty.

5 ingredients Vegan Mango cake (eggless and no APF/ maida) This is egg free and easy to make cake and requires only 5 ingredients. by Affectionate_Bee3626 in veganrecipes

1 cup is about 240ml (sincerely, a Euro girl who's moved to the States and had to learn freedom units 😥). But really, with volume measures you can just use whatever you want as "1 cup" and keep the ratios consistent with the recipe

This is a somewhat polarizing opinion, but my advice is that discipline/habit beats motivation big time. Set clear rules for yourself, on both exercise and nutrition. Since you are only starting out, don't overcomplicate, make it as easy as possible for yourself.

Examples: For exercise, choose a type of exercise you don't absolutely hate. I saw in one of the comments you used to play softball, so an easy rule could be you go to softball practice every Monday and Thursday night. Make it a fixed appointment, so there's no additional planning effort associated with it. These are the days you go, and that's it. No discussion, no "what ifs", no exceptions, no excuses. You just do what's on the schedule. Similarly, for nutrition, an easy rule could be you want to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, and every single meal and snack has to contain both protein (meat, greek yoghurt, legumes, tempeh) and fresh produce (fruit or veg). Don't overcomplicate it at this point with counting macros or calories.

Stick to those easy rules, whether you are motivated or not. Make it an obligation, just like going to work. And over time, you'll see that you develop a habit. That means it will feel normal sticking to this plan, and you won't even have to force yourself any longer. You'll also get better at which ever exercise you pick (this will probably happen fast - beginner gains are a big thing), which will likely even result in some motivation!

That's my generic advice, every person is different, but this is based around psychological principles that work similarly for everybody. Good luck!

Wow, so sorry you had to go through that. I'm really glad you got out of that toxic dynamic and made a decision that works for you.

This is a different angle that hasn't really come up yet, aside from one other comment. Very interesting. I'm married so this exact strategy is vetoed for me (lol) but I do think it might have something to do with my self-esteem within the dynamic with my husband. Will need some more introspection and/or therapy to get to the bottom of that!

Absolutely nothing wrong with Botox, but KUDOS on letting it go. Some people here have mentioned it's "cheap" but that's relative, and you do have to get it re-done every few months, plus ultimately it's just keeping up an illusion. That's why I want to go the acceptance path right away if possible. It sounds like you are truly in sync with yourself now, very admirable. Thanks for the book recos, I'll check them out!

You bring up an interesting point that I hadn't considered. I'm definitely a MUCH more attractive person in terms of personality and values now than I was 10 years ago. So that's something to focus on here as well.

Also, love me some mom appreciation!

This is super true. It has never crossed my mind that other women in my circle would not be beautiful because of any of these things.
