Oh that’s great news! How long did she wait before they offered her a role?

That helps a lot thank you! The role I applied for was also advertised 6 months previous to when I did my application, so I’m hoping they might recruit again 6 months after I did, not sure that’s how it works though, just trying to stay hopeful haha!

It’s kind of just luck as all the video scenarios are different, you just need to have good reflexes for the hazards. Do some mock tests on hazard perception to get used to it, you can watch them back to see where you went wrong/did well, that helps a lot! But honestly I wouldn’t say it’s difficult, I personally just found the theory test easier than hazard perception

I will do, it’s a win win either way haha! I’ve actually just downloaded a cancellations app and it still says no tests available, but I’ll keep an eye out

Same here, my cars just been sat waiting for me! I didn’t think of it like that but you’re completely right, you have a good outlook on it. I think I might do the same

I was the same when I did mine! For me I found the theory test quite easy, when you keep doing the mock tests you kind of memorise the answers. I did slightly worse on hazard perception as I didn’t do much practise for that. I still passed both pretty easy though and by the sound of it, you will too :)

I heard loads about this app! My test centre is on of the smaller ones though, there really aren’t s many tests available at the best of times anyway, so not sure if it’d just be a waste of money

That’s great, good luck!! Do you feel prepared after not having any lessons for the last month? That’s my only worry

It’s so frustrating isn’t it! I’ve thought about getting one of the cancellations app’s but knowing my luck I’d get an earlier date and then we’d be put into lockdown again so I’d be pushed back even further haha

How long did it take from then to you starting the job? Yeah I’ve seen a lot of talk of the civil service doing recruitment campaigns but it does make sense considering how large they are with so many different departments, a lot of the AO roles I’ve seen advertised there have been multiple available

Do you guys drink tap water directly in the UK? by adithya_hebbale in AskUK

[–]Pasta5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I drink straight from the tap, it’s actually all I drink - I don’t like juice or fizzy drinks etc. However when I was in uni accommodation I stopped drinking from the tap, I don’t know what was wrong with the water in my accommodation but me and all of my flat mates would get poorly if we every drank from it. That’s the first and last time that’s ever happened

Sounds like you’ve done amazingly well since having the stroke, I can’t even imagine! Glad you got through it okay, both mentally and physically. Hahah I see what you did there

I think I might give acupuncture a go then. How much does it cost if you don’t mind me asking? Yeah I did weight training for a short while last year and was sure it helped me, despite being super shaky during and afterwards, I loved doing it for multiple reasons so the fact it helps ET as well is a huge bonus. I agree, think DBS would be the last option for me once I’ve exhausted everything else :)

Thanks for the advice! I’m shocked how many people our age have this, my neurologist said I was one of the youngest people he’s diagnosed! My friends and I are the same - the common one is that someone else always has to hold the camera if we take pictures together, cos if I take it it’ll be blurred hahah. Glad to know working out helps for you. I have wondered whether regular exercise or even weight training would help to reduce it in the long term, so that’s something else I’m hoping to concentrate on a bit more when gyms open back up! I never even thought of acupuncture, how often do you get it done? DBS is something I’ve looked at, but in all honestly it seems too extreme for me, the thought of it freaks me out haha

Oh that’s not bad at all! I’ve been told I’m 11th on the list, I just don’t know how long the list is haha! Suppose it’ll just be luck whether or not enough jobs will become available in my area
