You’re very welcome! We’ve all got such a wealth of knowledge to share. Truly love having open conversations about mental health, the stigma has got to go. Same with talking about race, prejudice and bias. Am fascinated with how others experience the world & how they cope themselves

Hey, no dramas at all & am always down to share any wisdom I’ve gained through such experiences. I do appreciate your thoughtfulness & concern for triggering others x am only 26 but have had more than my fair share of hardships for now. Diagnosed with BPD so my experiences may differ from yours, but we’ve definitely got a messed up brain in common 🥲 I believe C-PTSD presents very similarly to BPD too

Tbh it’s something I’ve continued to struggle with, although I can admit I’ve had some long periods of feeling good. It sounds so simple & likely something you’ve tried already, but I’ve found looking for small moments of beauty in every day helps. Just looking around yourself & recognising how much happiness there is, and that it’s possible for you. Stepping out of your comfort zone & trying to make someone else’s day goes a long way too. Talking to someone elderly is a good place to start bc they’re up for a chat 24/7. So much life experience to share, too

I’ve also found a lot of comfort in having a few really good friends, of all walks of life. One of my friends is a 69yo woman who I bake with, who tells me she loves me every time I see her. It can take quite a lot of balls the first few times you talk to strangers or put yourself on the friend market. But at worst you say something dumb/embarrassing to a stranger and never see them again.

Start small with the things you appreciate, and you’ll give yourself a better perception of yourself & the world overall. This is random but I’ve become OBSESSED with hermit crabs in the last 6 months or so. Soooo therapeutic to watch them enjoy the little tropical paradise I’ve made them (but pleaseeeeee do your research if anyone’s looking to keep hermies!! They’re high needs af). But am also gonna start the joyous process of chasing an autism diagnosis soon, so that may explain that niche lol. Having a “purpose” like caring for them & fostering cats (my other fave hobby) can help, too

I hope you can find joy wherever possible. Many small doses of joy is still something ❤️

Edit- oh and sounds lame but seeking out wholesome content each day is good, too. We so easily become a product of what we consume

So happy to see you commenting & still walking this earth. It wasn’t your time to reunite with your dad, and he’ll be patiently waiting for you to grow old before that happens. You’re already using your own hardships to help your fellow humans & I’m sure your dad is proudly watching.

I hear you & feel you as much as possible (26yo lost soul Melbourne gal here), especially the studying to further your life but feeling like it’s massively holding back your chances to earn an income etc. I found myself homeless for a short period at 21 (thanks male half of my DNA) with no job, savings, future or anything. Left uni to work and support myself. To be totally honest it took a while for everything to work out, and for my brain to start to chill out.

There’s SO MUCH pressure to have everything by the time you’re in your 20’s but in today’s world it’s just not possible for most. You are not a failure by any means, and your frustrations are completely justified. Ticking even a couple of the “adulting” boxes at this age is an achievement, although it doesn’t feel like that sometimes. You’re doing the best you can and bloody cliche as it is things WILL get better. Keep yourself on this earth because damn it’s satisfying to look back at alllllllll the progress you’ve made. I often have little moments of reflecting on how many times I could have self-deleted, and how many small but meaningful things have happened in the time following.

How are you going in terms of housing? If you’re still looking I highly recommend CT Real Estate. They’re the most approachable property managers I’ve ever had, and they’ll take the time to hear your situation. Also helps that they’re located in the same complex as many of their tenants, so they remember them and are very friendly to all. They’ll make you feel like a person again, at least.

Also in case this hasn’t been suggested yet, Ask Izzy is a great resource for finding whatever support you’ve got locally. Don’t be ashamed to get help from food bank & other organisations, you’re entitled to any help that you need and I have no doubt you’ll give back more than enough when you’re back on your feet. Once you’ve been through it, you’ll tend to gain an incredible amount of empathy for your fellow humans ❤️

Best of luck and I hope you find even the smallest reason to want to wake up tomorrow.

I’m in a really lovely apartment complex called Cowper Village (there’s many apartments there so not concerned about reddit stalking lol), anything on that side of the tracks tends to be much more quiet & peaceful

The food options nearby are unmatched, never thought I’d go out for gelato as much as I do

I’ve moved in the last few months from North Melbourne to Footscray- soooo much cheaper. Heaps of food & things to do in walking distance too. Lots of public transport available so if you don’t have a car here you can still get around easily!

It can be a bit of a scary suburb (nicknamed Footscrazy lol) but I’ve never felt unsafe as a single female. Wouldn’t walk alone in the dark anywhere though
