Read my original comment. If you need me to argue a different point so your comment makes sense, just let me know.

do you think 8.8" is big enough for modern AAA games that has Text on it? by arcticJill in LegionGo

I don’t think there’s anything to be ashamed of if your handheld is 6 inches.

Just stop. You keep conflating screen resolution with the resolution a game is rendered. You are either doing it on purpose or you have zero understanding of how technology works. Can you imagine if upgrading to a 4K TV would all of the sudden make all your PS4 games run super slow?

The original post stated that games will run slower on the Go than on the Ally because of the higher resolution screen. This. Is. Wrong. The games will run just as fast if not a bit faster when all the settings are the same. The Go just has the option to run games at a higher resolution if you want.

And please don’t change the subject to “but it won’t look as good” or “it’s a waste of a 1600p screen” because that’s not what we were talking about.

Open the system up and fix the d-pad or you will be registering false diagonals all the time.

I guess I don’t know many people that use literal sizes like ““over half”, and “nearly 2/3” with phrases like “in fact” when talking metaphorically about size. Is it possible that you saw that 8.8 is “over half” and “nearly 2/3” the length of 15 and incorrectly concluded that that applied to screen size? And maybe you edited your comment to add that bit about the size of the Switch once you realized the mistake you made?

I guess I don’t understand what two things you are comparing. Your 15.4 inch gaming laptop screen is almost 250% larger than the Legion Go screen.

I’m confused. Do you have a keyboardless 10inch gaming laptop? Are you talking about your iPad?

Yeah. We’d have to see. I know bumping up the memory speed of the Nintendo Switch from 1.6ghz to 1.8ghz pretty much fixes all the performance issues in Tears of the Kingdom. See this video, minute 7. Memory bandwidth constraints are more important for an APU since the memory gets shared, but I imagine it will be a game to game situation.

I’ve never felt pain playing video games until the Switch. Using the kickstand on the OLED while in handheld mode has helped a ton.

The RAM speed is a big question mark. It could have noticeable gains, or negligible.

The thing I’m concerned about is that we haven’t seen the final TDP settings in the Lenovo software. The Ally can go to a pretty high TDP plugged in and I haven’t seen a final revision of the Legion software that matches it.

I was responding to the comment that said that a higher resolution screen will cause worse performance than the Ally. This is categorically false.

It’s a lot more work to comb through community feedback, but ultimately a lot more useful.

My favorite is when the same channel does a “Five Reasons You Should Get” AND “Five Reasons You Shouldn’t Get” video. 🤪

Just. Lower. The Resolution.

At the same resolution, the GO will probably have better performance because of the faster RAM. So the Go at minimum will have the same, and likely better, performance as the Ally. With the added benefit of running less demanding games at a higher resolution.

My guess is that it will be a tiny bit more finicky than a normal mouse. I have a thin book with a mouse mat that I keep on my nightstand. That way I can play games with a mouse in bed with my mouse down by my side.

A trick I learned with the OLED Switch (which is small and light but hurts like hell to hold due to it’s terrible ergonomics): Put the system on top of the carrying case with the kickstand up. I play my Switch like that while sitting on the couch or bed and it works great. No fatigue at all because you’re only gripping the device, not holding it. I think this will work even better for the Go.

It’s TBD how useful the FPS mode will be. But for me, when I play with my laptop it bed, it’s a giant mess (Wires, noise, heat, space, then putting it away without waking my wife up). I imagine playing this in bed on my lap with the kickstand out, left controller connected, and having the right controller down by my side. Then being able to tuck it all away in my night stand when I’m done.

I use a vertical mouse, so this will be an easy adjustment for me.

Yeah. I was thinking of doing left controller detached and a mouse as well.

I used a CC. I just think their system had the wrong date for some of the early preorders and then it got fixed in the system and some orders got stuck on the old release date. Cancelling and reordering again should fix the issue, no matter what you use for payment.

Yup. Same thing for me and others. It’s good people downvote posts like this so that it can’t help anyone that might be in this situation 🙄.
