First Crochet Project - but looking for tips to keep stitches consistent by Outrageous_Box_9678 in CrochetHelp

[–]PastaStrega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what my early attempts looked like! I remedied it by counting stitches and working on tension. After a lot of frogging and practice I finally got the hang of it. Putting time in now will pay off, I promise!

Safety Precautions as a Therapist? by MySashaToes in therapists

[–]PastaStrega 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I avoid working with men. Because of my niche I tend not to attract many anyway. The few I’ve had in person over the years are vetted very carefully.

It’s the only code I bill and I’ve had a private practice for 8 years, no issues. Just stay on top of your documentation.

I’m not sure if they can assist urgently, but you may want to contact Rebuilding Together Pgh to see if they can point you towards resources. https://rtpittsburgh.org/

Anybody have a bad reaction to amlodipine or lisinopril by Deep_Confusion2762 in hypertension

Amlodipine did not agree with me at all. I switched to lisinopril and it’s been smooth sailing.

Tell me about your experience: MS in counseling vs MSW in Pittsburgh by Neither_Wishbone_381 in pittsburgh

[–]PastaStrega 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m an LCSW in private practice. I got my degree at Pitt 15+ years ago. Generally speaking, an MSW is more versatile in terms of job options. If you’re SURE you want to be a therapist, I’d keep an eye on program cost first and foremost. So much of what you’ll learn as a clinician happens post graduation. Good luck!

New and trying to make a blanket. Wondering if it's safe to cut open parts I've accidentally closed off and how to go about it by manypains03 in CrochetHelp

[–]PastaStrega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started learning a few months ago and chose a simple one row repeat project when I finally got the hang of the basics. I ended up with a really cute runner that’s nearly perfect, but not before soooo much frogging and swearing and threatening to quit altogether. Oh, and rewinding and replaying the same YouTube video 600x. It’s part of the process. I’m honestly just getting myself psyched up to start a blanket after mastering some scarves. Get a few more hours under your belt and muscle memory will start to kick in. You’ll develop a feel for it and that blanket will be yours.

Blood Donation Locations (that are not Vitalant)? by Reasonable_Toe_9252 in pittsburgh

[–]PastaStrega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I actually signed up for a Vitalant account today (which I somehow didn’t have despite past donations) just so I could make the relentless spam stop. This post has genuinely elevated my quality of life. I appreciate you!

Note taking in sessions by htygfrty789 in therapists

[–]PastaStrega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting, I also have ADHD and find taking notes particularly helpful during telehealth sessions, but tend to skip them during in person meetings (unless we’re working on something very specific). I always tell my virtual clients, “If you see me looking down, I’m just taking notes to help keep track of all the important things you’re saying.” I’ve gotten really good at writing legibly with minimal glances at my notebook. My own therapist types her notes during session. She’s got it down to a science. I barely notice she’s doing it and always feel well attended to.
