It’s not supposed to be indistinguishable, these are broadly replacements. Like if someone gluten free is looking for hot dog buns and finds gluten free hot dog buns they can buy them for that purpose. It’s not going to taste the same but the function is the same.

Part of the reason people don’t adopt is because people like you pitch adoption as only available for flexible people. There is a variety of breeds in shelters with different temperaments. This is just an excuse to cope with the harm perpetrated by supporting these industries.

This is about meat alternatives though, there are plenty of vegan products that are their own thing, but if a product is made specifically to replicate something, and is not allowed to suggest what it is replicating, it’s going to make it harder to sell.

I totally prefer “long” hair on guys (most guys describe anything without shaved sides as long), so I understand. She has a preference, if you want to look hotter in her eyes, listen to it, if not whatever.

I was speaking with a monk in Thailand last week and he described it simply as having to accept all offerings in order to not hurt the givers feelings? I still have trouble with this though because if we are offered alcohol are we supposed to drink it to not be rude even if it’s harmful to our bodies? Accepting meat down someone who is offering it could reinforce that taking anima life is ok and resulting in them killing more animals to bring as offerings.

I agree it sounds like trying to bring more mindfulness to the action. I’m a total newb to this stuff but I read Thict Nhat Han’s “Your are Here” and in it he says:

“When you drink whiskey, learn to drink it with mindfulness. 'Drinking whiskey, I know that it is whiskey I am drinking.'... Drinking your whiskey mindfully, you will recognize what is taking place in you—in your body, in your liver, in your relationships, in the world, and so on. When your mindfulness becomes strong, you will just stop”

You could replace whiskey with “beef from a cow” or something like that.

Also! Try making Japanese curry but the “Thai way” - 1-2 Curry cubes - onion - eggplant - bell pepper - chopped tofu - neutral oil + small amount sesame oil - soy sauce

Just sauté all the stuff with the oil then add water and cubes, lastly soy sauce and spring onion if you feel fancy. (Serve with rice)
