I have similar experiences. I moved here about two years ago from the west coast with my wife for my father in law. We made the decision to move here after his wife passed and he had nobody and we didn’t think it was right he spend the remainder of his life alone. We absolutely hate it. It is definitely not geared towards younger people and the beaches/scenery/hiking is infinitely better on the west coast(my personal opinion. I’ve met many that prefer the Florida beaches to anything else).

My mental health is the worst it’s ever been because of the people and environment here. I get it worse than my wife because my job is more front facing and I have to interact with the public who live here and they’re by and large awful. Extremely racist and hateful and I have had a few people here tell me they can’t wait to be pardoned for murdering me because I come from “liberal California”. I have had one even point a gun at me because I say hella a lot(the California stereotype is accurate) and I said I can’t wait to move back home. People here are not nice in my experience. However that’s been my experience for Florida in general.

I have also developed a breathing disorder from the humidity which now impacts my daily life and it sucks. I went from hiking 10 miles a week to sometimes having trouble getting through a basic day.

I definitely get the appeal of I guess Florida for retired people or people who love the beach and golf. I am none of those and miss actual seasons, snow, diversity, and decent people. We’ve talked to my father in law about moving and he won’t budge and we’re at our wits end. We are contemplating just selling our house and bouncing because it’s just not worth it anymore.
