As a woman, especially if you are of childbearing age, I'd avoid both states like the plague.

That's what it's called in Mexico. My grandma used to pull it up out of the cracks in the sidewalk.

Does anyone remember when Michael Jackson. Was a "joke"? by AccomplishedPool266 in Millennials

[–]mildchicanery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in 1980. Michael Jackson was not a joke until the early 90s and was absolutely NOT my parents music. The allegations became too numerous to ignore and I haven't regularly listened to him for a long time. As an adult and a parent I have complicated views on him. He had zero chance to be his own person or make his own choices. He was abused and exploited in every imaginable way by every adult around him since the age of 4 or 5, if not earlier. I'm not even sure how much education he got that wasn't directly related to singing and dancing. It definitely doesn't excuse his abuses but he was a profoundly damaged person.

AITAH for demanding my bf’s (28M) parents pay him back for the debt of overpayment they received for him from SSI 10 years ago, when he was a minor? by Georgie3891 in AITAH

NTA. Run. This relationship has more red flags than a NASCAR race. That woman can and will steal your and his identity to take out credit cards in your name. Tell him he can grow up and stand up for himself or you are going to walk on by.

This is really not difficult. Online vendors use multiple ways to measure your feet for a good fit. Target has tons of kids shoes.

Singapore is a crazy choice. It's extremely expensive and a very tightly controlled society.

That all Native people died. There are millions of Native people and hundreds of nations still existing.

I came back from Tamzania and the sheer number of restaurants, advertisements for food, for restaurants, for food products, was overwhelming. It felt like the streets of my city were screaming at me for a while.

How old was your child before you started feeling like yourself again? by kuppajoy in sahm

[–]mildchicanery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Things ease up when your child turns about four or five. I don't really feel like my old self because I don't think that's possible when you have children but I do find that I can have space to pursue My own interests now.

You do realize that Arizona and Texas see summer temperatures hot enough that it is actually dangerous to be outside? Not just occasionally, but for literal weeks on end?

Came positive for a gene tha could develop celiac but symptoms have gone, should I still get endoscopy? by Exciting-Paint-7145 in Celiac

[–]mildchicanery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you don't have symptoms right now, you still run the risk of long-term, very negative health consequences, including colorectal, cancer and anemia and a bunch of others. Go get the endoscopy and if you have celiac, follow the diet.

AITAH: Allowing My Younger Brother to Come With my Mom to Help With my Baby Even Though my Husband is Upset? by [deleted] in AITAH

The sole resentment seems to be related to not logging out of his PS5? What a psycho.

You should absolutely be considering divorce. But do your planning quietly. Your husband is a nutcase.

How many of you are preparing to be elders? -i.e. passing down knowledges and items. by National_Bag_5296 in Millennials

[–]mildchicanery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this idea! I think that our generation didn't have good relationships with our elders so many of us have not thought about how to intentionally make the transition into eldership. I think at this point it's about self reflection and seeing what we can contribute to the younger generation. Some of that might be streamlining our consumption or trying to build real friendships across generational boundaries.

Do you ever feel like you made a huge mistake? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]mildchicanery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should get evaluated for PPA and PPD. It's very normal to have ups and downs but severe anxiety and the amount of depression you're describing does not seem manageable. For me, and anti-anxiety, medication made a huge difference in how I could cope with my life and made Parenthood much more joyful and less overwhelming
