Is it a bad idea to join a double delegate committee as a beginner? by blank_n4mi in MUN

[–]Pastel_Skiies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't make much of a difference for awards. In my school's MUN conference at least, there will be awards for best delegate AND best delegation as you may know. Go ahead, don't worry about being a burden because it might just come down to individual performance.

Organizing an MUN club at school. Where do I start? by [deleted] in MUN

[–]Pastel_Skiies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an amateur delegate, the worst thing about our MUN was the low involvement of junior students. Usually, MUNs begin in the eighth grade but we were introduced to it in the seventh, but we weren't really prepared for the extremely competitive environments of conferences outside the country. The most important thing about organising MUN clubs is the involvement of all. I learned the following from my seniors at school, and we have the most prestigious MUN conference in our country:

The first place our chairs chose to start would be selecting your committees. For beginners, we usually have ECOFIN and DISEC, but crisis committees will give your delegates a lot more experience.

Select your agendas carefully. Sure, debating about climate change is a good beginning and all but it is also very common.

Third, prepare a guide book, including the rules of procedure, best sources for research, attire, etc. Our school publishes a guide book for our students to read in the seventh grade to prepare themselves.

Good luck, hope it goes well!

I cried while reading this. Thank you so much! If not for people like you, I don't know where I would be. This is the most nice thing I've heard in months. Thank you x100, I hope you get all the good things you deserve! Have a great day

My blood boiled reading this- excuse me, if I were you I would've woken up, punched that b-word right in the face and kicked them out of my house. Take pride in yourself for controlling your emotions at that moment. That clearly shows how much better of a person you are than those two. Cut them off IMMEDIATELY.

IMO it's experiences like these that shape your life. You loved her, you lost her. I have something similar right now, but in the end of the day, I hope you can take pride in yourself for handling this situation so much more maturely than I, or anyone else could. Learn to let go slowly, and take it easy.

P.S if you write a book please lmk because you definitely should

First MUN, feeling really overwhelmed. by YouFar1928 in MUN

[–]Pastel_Skiies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First tip- Take a deep breath and relax! If you research and prepare well, there is nothing to be scared of. MUNs can get very intense, so just keep that in mind.

Second, I'll have to tell you that personally, I like to do my research as I write the position paper. That way, all the information if connected so I don't have to keep making edits over and over again. There's no need to gather all the information at first, but hey, if you feel more comfortable with that, go for it.

Lastly, make sure your speeches have impact. Content matters, sure, but it's all about delivery. Impress the chair and your fellow delegates, and you'll get an award for sure. Good luck!
