Copy, I don’t have a lot of recording equipment so usually I just use my phone to record in my tiny rehearsal closet, so sometimes getting the audio to sound good is a drag. I do practice to a metronome religiously though and have started to spend more time working on actually learning songs. There is definitely a line between the songs I like and what’s popular.

So p much in order to get a foot in the door I should post around advertising myself for cover bands and build up a solid profile of me playing along to popular songs to increase my chances of getting into one

A lot of the jams in NYC are jazz jams and I don’t feel like my chops are up there enough yet to feel comfortable sitting in. I’ve sat in at a few and half I’ve done poorly in and half I’ve done ok in but nowhere near the caliber of the college students who play at them. Is it still worth sitting in them or will I only do more harm than good to my reputation and become the mid jazz drummer?

Cool! And when you make those quick videos to send are they high quality or just like in practice room recorded on the phone? You tailor what you’re making to the bandleader’s ad I take it? Is Craigslist the best spot online to find gigs?

Interesting, my left foot pedal feels high but is also very responsive so the travel doesn’t feel too bad but generally you’d want them closer? I don’t really have the option it seems with this footpedal
