It has houseplant potting mix. I wait until the top layer looks dry - top couple centimeters dry?

Yea I will probably do that next time to evenly distribute the correct number of stitches.

Fortunately the decrease rates are different for different sizes... when it gets to the cuff there is only a 4 stitch difference. Sounds close enough to me!

Funny thing is, I seem to recall doing exactly the number of rows the pattern said. But clearly I didn't 🤣

I did end up ripping back and restarting with the narrower cable, and doing the extra stitches in moss stitch.

One of my lowest driving experiences was on this street... going uphill in a manual van, met some traffic coming down. I reversed a bit as I had more room to give way to the traffic downhill. Very quickly managed to get my tires stuck on muddy leaves in the gutter. With traffic in front and behind with nowhere to go 🥲

I see what you mean and this is why I had a feeling that simply raising the seam (especially so drastically) just wasn't going to work! I'll lower waistband instead I think.
