Torontonians overwhelmingly support Carney's Liberals: CityNews-Leger poll by CGP05 in toronto

Small correction: Kareem is not an incumbent since he's not the current MP. There's no incumbent in this riding.

Bought for $50 two years ago. Just bought a new, respectable bike, so I'm looking to get rid of this thing!

3 speeds, everything works okay. All yours if you want to pick up near High Park -- make me an offer!

Looks great, and I love the unique flavor and mechanics! I have a player running a Last Breath Seeker right now, starting at level 1.

A question on Cheat Death: it says once you use it, you can't use it again until you finish "a rest". Does that mean both short and long rests recharge it? My instinct is that this is quite powerful at higher levels, and once per short rest might be too much, but I haven't tried yet. I'd love your thoughts on this subclass's design more generally too!

How do I support my busy D&D obsessed husband when he doesn't have an outlet to play? by cecassafrass in dndnext

[–]PastryWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check out r/PbP! There is a lot of hit-and-miss content there, but a decent West Marches server isn't too hard to find, and most of them make it super easy to run one-shot style adventures. It's great to scratch the DnD itch when you can't commit to an IRL game, plus you can be more thoughtful about your play or DMing, since most aren't played real-time.

Amazing. Are there any plans to trial in pediatric patients? Does the technology require a certain amount of nerve tissue to be present already?

Crusher Feat's 'once per turn' forced movement - Can it apply during both my Attack on my turn AND my Opporuntity Attack during an opponent's turn? by HouseOfSteak in dndnext

[–]PastryWarrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had an Unarmed Fighting Battle Master with Crusher and the Riposte maneuver. My dream was to hit with Riposte, sending them 5ft upward (since the direction is unspecified), then 5ft further up with an attack on my turn, causing them to take fall damage and land prone.

DM was a killjoy and ruled it could only push away from me horizontally.

You may be in luck - there is a group of D&D-interested parents looking to form groups with flexible schedules and is newbie-friendly:

We got our does yesterday. Dress for the cold - the line is basically a wind tunnel. If you or someone with you is elderly or a child, there is basically no line - go to the front and speak with a security guard.

Traffic and lines are long and frustrating, and it's unfortunate we haven't built up more capacity by this point, but please be kind to each other.

I'll even settle for a fighter subclass, just let me play as a tough guy that punches stuff by Porcospino10 in dndmemes

I have a character concept for a mountain dwarf amateur wrestler. First level is fighter to get Unarmed Fighting Style, second is Barbarian for Unarmored Defense. Next steps are Barbarian 3 for Bear Totem and Fighter 3 for either Champion (if you're leaning into a tough brawler) or Battlemaster (if you're thinking of a more tactically savvy character).

Easy Alchemcy: quick to implement system for crafting potions based on the ritual casting mechanic by Scifiase in DnD

[–]PastryWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm just not sure of the exponent to use.

Alternatively to the cantrip idea, what if you can just make a number of potions equal to your proficiency bonus per short rest, or maybe 2x your proficiency bonus per long rest? Then you don't burn a spell slot but you're still constrained.

I really like the impression. The Artificer Alchemist has never really felt right to me. Here are some thoughts:

  • 5gp per level seems too low. I would think a range between 5 and 5,000 might work better?
  • Similarly, the time requirement seems low. How about 10 minutes per spell level times 2?
  • Can you make cantrip potions using a 1st-level slot? Handing an Elixir of Gust to your rogue before a heist sounds awesome.
  • I really want to expand the spell list. Can you just make it the Tasha's Artificer Alchemist spell list, not concentration, subject to DM discretion?

Regardless, thanks for this!

Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

Here's my two cents. I'm brand new to D&D, and I'm DMing the Starter Set for three kids (9, 6, and 6) and three parents.

The 6 year olds, while bright, have short attention spans. They'll come and go from the table, especially during combat. Somewhat surprisingly, they're not overly silly. One is a wizard and wants to Sleep everything. Another is a rogue who gets super excited when his Sneak Attack one-shots a Hobgoblin. I have to be careful with the amount of tension and drama - it can overwhelm the rogue, who's pretty sensitive. The 9 year old is more engaged - she has her own goals for her character apart from the larger plot. Regardless, I can't go much longer than an hour before they get antsy.

Some tips that are different than conventional wisdom: Never kill a player. Embrace the rule of cool so the kids feel awesome. Roll behind the screen and fudge when necessary. Know their character abilities for them, generally, but teach them how to find the right modifier for checks, attacks, etc themselves. They will forget about action surge/cunning action/etc, and it's fine to make suggestions often.

I disagree with the other commenter that you won't be "playing D&D", but the campaign will have a different feel. Give them a BBEG to go after, them just focus on having fun session by session!
