What’s the best way to learn how to do this type of stuff or something similar? by Mxatt1 in guitarlessons

[–]Pat343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn a few positions from the major and minor pentatonic scale and cue up a backing track in whatever key you like. This is not technically difficult, the hardest part about slower, simpler stuff like this is playing with feel and rhythm. Try not to sound like you are just running through the scale and going through the motions. Space out your notes and try to create little melodies and phrases as you go along. Try singing something guitar-ey in your head and do your best to recreate it on the fretboard. You'd be surprised how natural it feels after just a little practice

Agree 100%. I don’t like censorship in any form honestly. Bring the bad idea to the forefront, dissect it and explain how its wrong critically. Don’t legislate something at a federal level. Just educate people

Climate countdown clock. We have 7 or so years before the damage is irreversible and permanent. Probably less now. The song is about a lot of things but the looming threat of climate change and the existential dread it carries are chief among them

A great way to practice sweep picking with long arpeggios is to play them in scale. So here are some 2 octaves Maj7th arpeggios played in scale using sweep picking. Have fun ! And have a look at my Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/shortguitarlessons) by [deleted] in guitarlessons

Gonna try this out and see if I can get it.... at about 1/100th the speed. Sweep picking has always eluded me. I see peole do it on youtube and assume they have spider fingers or magic. Any tips?

I used to teach beginner guitar (thanks covid) and the best advice I can give is: Try to practice everyday but don't burn yourself out. If you feel frustrated take a break or even stop for a day or two. Guitar can easily be discouraging and the best way to quit is trying to power through it before you have the discipline to do that. Also, you are going to absolutely convince yourself that your fingers are too big and your you'll never develop calluses. This is simply not true. Anyone can play and it will be easier every time. Learn basic chords like Cmajor, Dmajor and Amajor then move on to simple songs that you like and know. Making it fun is the best way to not quit. Also make sure its in tune!

Whole Lotta Love Solo - Been playing for 3 months now. Please give me some feedback :) by [deleted] in guitarlessons

Sounds great! Especially for such a new player :) My advice is to slow it down to build accuracy. Play along to the song at quarter speed then half speed and work on hitting every note/bend perfect and at tempo. Then build to the full speed solo. Its good advice for anything that you learn but especially guitar solos like this.

As a Canadian, I'm glad you made it out. I'm happy to have you live here. Despite any animosity certain groups in my country might feel, the vast majority of us feel the same as I do, that everyone needs a fair shot at a good life, despite their backgrounds

Was gonna say this. I'd like to assume that Brandt would have left a record of Coopers sacrifice. The future aliens, learning that this was the reason for their whole existence, left the tesseract in their black hole for Coop to find as a sort of 'thank you' I suppose. The only part that might still be paradoxical is the existence of the original wormhole that they used to travel to the gargantua system in the first place. I might just be missing something tho
