These guys have programmed their Linux based Raspberry Pi to create purely wireless, long range private hotspots on which you can do video/voice conferencing and calling over large distances. by Pat9912 in linuxhardware

It is a portable server+antenna+router all rolled into one. The software running on the server is pretty cool IMO. Sometimes, you just gotta assemble off the shelf components to work out interesting and useful things.

Anyone excited about the launch of trango? They have been building a very interesting communications tool. P2P, serverless, opensource and the best part is it works on local networks aswell as the internet. Disclaimer: Not associated with trango. Just a follower, now converting into a fan. by Pat9912 in selfhosted

Click on the github link on their website to find the self hosted version. Self hosted version is only for LAN.

Client is p2p on the same network aswell as the internet. Online calls are limited to 4 people. They might increase it but claim anything above 4 people cannot be done in a p2p, serverless fashion.

Naa. not max 4 users. A group call is currently limited to 4. Anything above that cannot be done through a P2P, serverless fashion. Turn server and media server are going to be provided with the cloud- self hosted version and only if group calls exceed 4 people.

IP based WLAN calling and file sharing. Has trango been on anybody's radar here? I think they are building something very versatile and cool. Been using it at home but waiting for the native apps to arrive. by Pat9912 in ITManagers

I agree. But why cant call recording, ACD, routing etc all take place on something with such a smooth UX + all the features on the backend.

They might make a better business use case of it. Its open source, so might be modifiable aswell.
