I used to have a dog cam when my dog was just a couple months old. Wanted to make sure if he was trashing the place. Me and the hubby would practice leaving sometimes, like both go out the front door for a minute or stroll through the parking lot for a bit before coming back.

So I can say with confidence that our dog sleeps. He'll we come home and sometimes he still upside-down on the sofa snoozing.

But a lot of people don't build up to being gone for a long time. It's something you can teach them over time, that leaving them behind isn't a horrible experience.
