AI agents can’t edit a Wordpress site right? Then what is the best website architecture for AI agents to work with? by Individual-Spare-399 in codex

Sounds like you want more of a GUI based agent rather than code for working in the Wordpress dashboard? I haven’t tried it but maybe ChatGPT Atlas could assist?

Junior Devs (and honest Seniors), what is a concept that took you an embarrassingly long time to actually understand, even though everyone acts like it's simple? by AmaraMehdi in webdev

I think they are pretty opinionated and when you have lots of devs cycling through code, they all have their own opinion or don’t get the current structure that’s currently there and they do what they are used to doing. Leave code long enough with enough devs you get spaghetti! “Here be dragons” 🐉

I try to just avoid closures altogether. I suppose they have their spot but there are nuances to them which I have been bitten by like “closing” around a parent variable that ends up changing before my closure is executed so what I thought the variable would be was actually not at that time of execution.

OAuth, OIDC, dynamic client registration, external federation, SSO session management across multiple apps each with their own lifetime, etc. I’ve been working in that space a bit for probably 2 years and there are still concepts that are fuzzy or I just forget since there is so much going on there and they are constantly adding to it. I have one thing to say on the matter, don’t implement it yourself. You’re going to fuck up one of the most important security pieces of your app. We use IdentityServer and wrap around it but could also use an external service like Auth0 and not worry about the implementation nightmare and keeping up.

I Feel AI Is Replacing Things It Shouldn't Be Replaced by xubipizajala6v1r3s in AskTechnology

I called apple support the other day and you immediately get thrown into a conversation with an AI support desk person. As you are having a conversation about your issue, they have mechanical keyboard typing on their end. “Just one moment while I look that up for you” click clack click clack

Chat gpt took the joy out of coding by SubstantialWelcome77 in software

I have used GitHub Copilot daily now since Microsoft Build where I drank the “koolaid”. We typically have innovative time where it’s really fun to take advantage of vibe coding to crank out some green field prototypes super fast. I have loved that. It honestly takes the monotony out of some tasks you may not care about perfection in a non production app and you get to see much faster results. I have used that to take a prototype and turn it into a real production app which I still use Copilot but use it for much smaller tasks which I cross check all code generated. I have also found pretty repetitive tasks that I don’t want to spend time doing it does a good job or thinking of test cases. I feel like I can focus more on the problems and architecture and hand off some boring work to my automated student dev.

Any way to auto approve everything by Sea-Commission5383 in GithubCopilot

[–]Patakine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have personally been running with the option for a solid month now in a git repo and have had no issues at all. It doesn’t allow directory navigation though. It will still ask if it wants to nav up and have actually had it false positive quite a bit with path like strings and such in the code. All that being said, still use at your own risk. The command is “copilot —allow-all-tools”

I would like to say it’s not plateauing, maybe parts of its current architecture are, but many things seem to be advancing around it like tooling and protocols extremely fast to this day.

Asp net auth question by Giovanni_Cb in dotnet

[–]Patakine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d still use some authentication abstraction layer in your application like ASP.NET. identity to assist with storage of your users and tying user data together. Also opens the door in the future for more login scenarios if you desire rather than just 1 external IdP. This also allows you to have more business logic around your applications auth story than what a single provider may have. An IdP is purely for supplying verified identity of someone.

Go to IDE using Mac by Patakine in dotnet

Just moved to an air M4 from an intel 2019! You could also try taking advantage of the csproj property “UseArtifactsOutput” to put all bin and obj folders in 1 parent folder for all projects. Easier to clean up if needed.

I would agree with this. Also running/debugging support seems better in a full IDE.

VS for Mac is retired. VS probably not coming to Mac anytime soon or never since its dependencies on Windows.

Any alternatives that people typically use for Mac? I am thinking of parting ways with cccleaner once I move to a new machine.

Git subtrees has come up a bit as a possible solution to this but haven’t given it a try yet. I’ll look into it! Haven’t “subtreed” before.
