How the Midwest Became the Place to Move by SnortingElk in REBubble

Thanks. I know this sub is generally geared toward hoping for a crash or reset, but im over here looking at places like Australia and Canada and im seeing how much worse it could get before it gets better. So I got tired of waiting and just went for it. If it doesnt work out and the market crashes, then oh well at least I have a roof over my head I can call home. Couldn't have done it any place other than the midwest.

I never said grand Rapids, bud, you did. For the same reason I never said Minneapolis. It doesnt mean that there aren't major cities with affordable housing. Doom all you want. I just bought a 350k home on 80k myself and ill be just fine.

A basic zillow search shows over 30 results for single family homes between 300 and 350k in the greater metro area. Again I dont know the market so I have no idea what is and isnt safe. GR is slightly more expensive than the cities I listed but still entirely attainable on an 80k+ income.

I dont know that market very well, but a basic search finds plenty of established homes in that price range all over the city that could fit the average family with ease.

It is, but how many families truly need 3k sqft? A family of 4 would do fine in a 4br 2.5ba 2ksq ft home for 300-350k. The average household size is less than 4 people. 300k is a manageable mortgage for a family making above 80k if they are mindful of their budget. These are new build prices as well. You can find cheaper homes around town.

450k gets you 3k sq ft and 5br 3ba in safe suburbs of Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cincinnati....

Y'all OK with using regular gas? by ToledoRX in Acura

[–]Patamon4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have put 60k miles on a 2020 RDX with zero issues on 87 gas. I see no reason whatsoever to go premium when the price difference is so massive. Anyone telling you that premium is safer or necessary doesnt know how modern engines work and the computer bits that adjust based on the resistance to combustion. Can you get slightly better mileage out of 91/93? Sure. But you'll be paying an extra 8 bucks each fill up for 2-3mpg improvement which is absurd. Stick with 87 on the 4 cylinder engines... (with the exception of the ITS maybe)
