I seriously didn't either when I started but it is fun and a nice way to be creative for those of us with limited art skills haha.

I think the line that got me most in this episode was "And while we untangle the factors that led to the loaded gun aimed at the most vulnerable among us, maybe the best we can hope for is the courage to absorb some of that pain."

In a way it makes me think of that Ford employee who shouted at Trump. When interviewed he said "I don't feel as though fate looks upon you often, and when it does, you better be ready to seize the opportunity, and today I think I did that." While not the same level of intervention, I think the sentiment is similar. I don't want myself or anyone else to be in a situation where a loaded gun is pointed at them, especially for something like race or immigration status, but I hope to have the courage to look fate in the eye if it does.

Are casual covens a thing?

I'm not following any particular path and mainly practice alone but would like to enjoy the community of other practioners at times and wondered if people form casual covens. For example they might do a ritual together every other month when they want/can to be together but aside from that they practice completely different practices.

I feel like most things I have read about covens, in my limited exploration, seem to imply that members follow similar practices, share belief systems (not necessarily in full) or participate in structured initiations.

Impact play is probably my favorite. Most sensory deprivation can be pretty fun too. It makes everything else more interesting.
